Louise Posted 26 January 2006 Posted 26 January 2006 The Flying Scotsman Rab Douglas will be hoping to get up to further bar swinging antics when the Foxes meet Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday. Douglas was part of the City side that gained a 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur to book Leicester's place in the last 32 - and performed something of a party piece in front of the North Stand as the third goal went in to complete the famous comeback against the Premiership giants. And the Scottish international goalkeeper will be hoping to get the chance to practice his acrobatics again this weekend when the Foxes take on the Saints for a place in round five. He said: "I got a bit carried away when the third goal went in against Spurs and I seem to remember jumping up and swinging on the crossbar. I had a horrible feeling halfway through that it would snap and the game would have to be abandoned! But it was a great victory and we must reproduce that form again on Saturday. We were 2-0 down at one stage and it would have been easy to think about damage limitation. But the manager changed it around and we went from strength to strength. We have to build on that." Craig Levein was in charge of the side on that occasion - but following the announcement of his departure on Wednesday evening it is now left to Rob Kelly and Mike Stowell to steer the ship. Douglas added: "The departure of the manager emphasises the horrible side of football. Craig signed me in the summer and I think he has been a good man manager, a good coach and an honest worker. I am disappointed in the players collectively because I feel that we have let him down. "Results haven't been good enough and we must now redouble our efforts in getting up the league. Rob and Mike have come in and we now must all pull together as a club. "You can't dwell on these matters and we have just got to go for it now. We have played some good football and not got anything out of the season. We just need a couple of ugly wins - it is as simple as that." Tickets for the FA Cup clash remain on general sale, priced at just £20 for adults, £10 for senior citizens and £5 for under 16s. The Walkers Stadium ticket office will remain open until 7pm on Friday to help to service the expected high demand, and will open its doors again from 9am until kick off on the day of the game. http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~774306,00.html Maybury Remains Focussed Alan Maybury says the Leicester squad must now put the departure of Craig Levein to the back of their minds as they prepare to take on Southampton in the FA Cup fourth round on Saturday (3pm). Maybury enjoyed a close affiliation with Levein - and was one of the first players brought in by the Scot 12 months ago. But although the 27-year-old defender admits that the players must share the responsibility for his ultimate fate - he confirmed that it was back to the business of turning Leicester's season around this weekend. He said: "I suppose there is never a good time to lose a manager, but the Board have decided to act and we have now got to prepare for our game against Southampton. We've just got to get on with it. "I have worked under Craig for the last five years and he has signed me twice during that time. He has been good to me and I owe him a lot. But I do feel, personally, that I have let him down because he has lost his job. "We are all disappointed , but after our run of results of late it is probably not that much of a surprise. That's the way football is unfortunately. The manager is usually the one to pay with his job. "The players have played a big responsibility in that. We are out there on the pitch and we are the team that he selects in the faith that we are good enough to win the games. We haven't performed to the standard that we think we should have, so ultimately we are responsible. But it is the manager who pays the price by losing his job. "We spoke to him on Wednesday before he knew exactly what was happening and he came in today (Thursday) to wish us well before he left." City won the right to take on the Saints following their shock 3-2 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in the last round, and Maybury believes that with the attention again turned away from the league, the Foxes will again have a chance to shine. He added: "We have had good form in the cup competitions so hopefully that will continue. The pressure is off us going into the game so we will be looking to establish some form to stand us in good stead for the weeks ahead. "Our league game this season against Southampton was the same as many others - we dominated the chances and possession without having the killer instinct to finish them off. "They have had a big turnaround since we played them last, so maybe it will act as a chance for us to both play under no pressure for a change." Former assistant manager Rob Kelly will be at the helm for the game, and Maybury added that he had every faith in the new caretaker boss. He said: "I have really enjoyed working under Rob and he is a very good coach. It is difficult to gauge whether things will change, but I am sure Rob will have some of his own ideas." After the Cup game it will be back to the business of the league, and Maybury says that the fans, players and coaching staff are now all in it together as the club look to pull out of the relegation places. "Up until now we haven't picked up the form or picked up the points we have needed to, so things need to change. But it isn't time to panic. We will keep working away and we have faith in the ability of the squad," he added. "It's our job now to put some smiles back on faces. It has been difficult this season because we have never really got going. Hopefully things can change at the weekend." http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~774228,00.html Some nice pictures of Rab there.
