Guest Posted 4 November 2004 Share Posted 4 November 2004 The Beatles thread has inspired me, sorry! I do like the Beatles, and you can't dispute the contribution Lennon and McCartney made to British pop music. However, I prefer the Rolling Stones! (I am aware the 1st Stones release was written by Lennon and McCartney!!)

davieG Posted 4 November 2004 Share Posted 4 November 2004 The Stones first single was by Chuck Berry - Come On - Got to no 20 Their second was I wanna be your man by Lennon & McCartney got to no 12 (Berry) Come On Everything is wrong since me and my baby parted All day long I'm walkin 'cause I couldn't get my car started. Laid off from my job and I can't afford to check it, I wish somebody'd come along and run into it and wreck it. Come on, since me and my baby parted, Come on, I can't get started Come on, I can't afford to check it, I wish somebody'd come along and run into it and wreck it Everything is wrong since I've been without you Ev'ry night I lay aake thinkin' about you. Ev'ry time the phone rings it sounds like thunder Some stupid guy try'n to reach another number. Come on, since I've been without you Come on, always thinkin' about you. Come on, phone sounds like thunder Some stupid guy try'n to reach another number. Everything is wrong since I last saw you, baby I really wanna see you and I don't mean maybe. I'm doin' ev'rything try'n to make you see That I belong to you, hon, and you belong to me. Come on, I gotta see you, baby Come on, I don't mean maybe. Come on, I'm try'n to make you see That I belong to you, hon, and you belong to me. Come on, I gotta see you, baby Come on, I don't mean maybe. Come on, I'm try'n to make you see That I belong to you, hon, and you belong to me. Come on, come on, come on, come on The Beatles first was Love me Do reached 17th I did have all 3 plus others but they were stolen by a friend (sorry exfreind) Personally I can't choose between them as they are fundementally different in their music and lifestyles in those early years. As I said I only know from owning them and it still hurts having lost the originals along with lots of other singles, eps and lps.

My dad has 'I wanna be your man' on vinyl, but not 'Come on'. Although I no longer own a record player, I'm having his record collection!!! TrickyTrev Posted 9 November 2004 Share Posted 9 November 2004 I don't have much times for The Rolling Stones but I love the Beatles circa 1966/7. Far from the best 60's acts though. The Beach Boys Jimi Hendrix Experience Love Are the names thast initially spring to my mind.
