Newcastle_Fox Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 Looks like a scam to me login to www.paypal.com and see if you get the same information there, if you do the email is genuine. Though most likely it looks like a scam email.
Guest ▓▓▓ Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 Yes I recieved that email today, and was concerned at first, but after closer inspection it's fine, and I did as the email said.

anotherwin Posted 23 May 2006 Posted 23 May 2006 and If it ain't addressed to your actual name, be suspicious!
lookwhaticando Posted 24 May 2006 Posted 24 May 2006 Looks like a scam to me login to www.paypal.com and see if you get the same information there, if you do the email is genuine. Though most likely it looks like a scam email. Spot on. PayPal would notify you upon loggin in - not by emailing you about it (because that's less secure in itself) - if there were any problems with your account. Also, they addressed you as 'Paypal member' - that's a massive hint that it's not genuine. Finding an email account that uses PayPal is relatively straight forward - knowing the name of the user is quite something else. Unless they address you using your name, exactly as it appears in your profile at PayPal, it's bogus. (I have about 20 emails from PayPal in my inbox, all of them address me by my full name). As Newcastle says, it's a scam . Report it and delete it. edit: gotta hand it to the scammers tho - they made it quite convincing. It looks like it was modelled on a proper email about account issues, I imagine a few people got stung by this one ...
Rincewind Posted 24 May 2006 Author Posted 24 May 2006 Thanks for the help. I'll report it. I've had it a few days now and was worried that I may be asked for my details. I have not used it for a while so will have to try and remember my login details.
