Lineker's Left Foot Posted 27 May 2006 Share Posted 27 May 2006 Just a silly thread really, I am thinking back to the poor Bryan Hamilton/David Pleat era when we were in obscurity and wondering if anyone can remember looking at their football programmes and seeing really silly player names for the opposition - who also turned out to be sh*t. These are players here today gone tomorrow and never heard of again... I have a few... David Hockaday (Swindon) Romeo Zondervan (Ipswich) and Mich D'Avray (Ipswich) Ken De Mange (Hull) Kevin Summerfield (Plymouth) Paul McGugan (Barnsley) and one... Adrian Boothroyd (Bristol Rovers). I can also remember Paul Jewell (Bradford), Dave Penney (Oxford) and Tony Pulis (Bournemouth) who are now all more than capable football managers with Wigan, Doncaster and Plymouth respectively. Also, sh*t players always tend to make good footie managers !!!
Stuliasz Posted 27 May 2006 Share Posted 27 May 2006 It always makes me laugh when I look at the back of programmes to see the number 12 as for example "Green Army" when Plymouth came. Quite a few clubs do this and I think it has to be one of the corniest things in football.
