Easier said than done to attack for an hour with 10 men in heat. I think Eriksson attempted to play as attacking as he could by introducing Crouch and Lennon.

I guess in reality 60 mins of either was not going to happen, but the intention was to not lose and concede all territory and defend from about 30 yards out with Crouch isolated, that hadn't worked with 11 players for the first 60 mins so was unlikely to provide a goal. It's all about attitude and ours was avoid defeat, but it should be obvious that 60 mins of that physical and mental approach is going to leave you exhausted and with a major disadvantage when taking penalties.
