Jamesino_LCFC Posted 13 August 2006 Share Posted 13 August 2006 vs. Burnley - Poor performance really and nothing much was changed after the opening day defeat to Luton. There was no urgency in attack, near to no chances created and, once again, it was a set peice where we conceded with some bad marking. vs. Ipswich - Much improved perfomance, smothering Ipswich from the word go and we were deservedly rewarded with an early goal from Paddy Kisnorbo (who had a brilliant game and was many fan's man of the match). A solid first half perfomance which didnt let Ipswich into the match at all let us go in at the break 1-0 up. 5 minutes into the second half Stephen Hughes beautifully controlled the ball and driven it into the bottom corner. 2-0. City then let their foot off the gas a little and some silly and careless play let Ipswich get a deflected goal which made it 2-1. About 4-5 minutes of that infamous heart-pumping pressure Ipswich were undoubtedly putting on us as they searched for a suprise equaliser. However any fears were swiftly washed away as Iain Hume was put through by Matty Fryatt, outside of the foot and into the net. 3-1. It also could've been 4 or even 5 as Matty Fryatt reeled away in celebration with a perfectly good headed goal however it was disallowed for offside and Levi Porter also had a strike blocked on the line.
