Quartet set to get run-out in Leicester friendly By James McMath

Manager Billy Davies is set to include four members of Derby County's first-team squad in a behind-closed-doors match at Leicester City today.

Paul Boertien, Richard Jackson, James Meredith and goalkeeper Steven Cann are likely to be involved in a private friendly with the Foxes.

The rest of the Derby squad will be made up of Academy players.

Because of the international break, the Rams do not have a competitive fixture until the trip to Plymouth Argyle on October 15.

Derby do not have a reserve team and Davies said today's game would help the quartet in their bids to reach full fitness.

"It's good that we have been able to choose to have a friendly because some of the players need it," said Davies.

"We don't have a reserve team, so this is a chance for some of the players to get a game.

"We're lucky to have been able to arrange the game - it's come at a good time for us with the international break.

"Jacko has only played about 120 minutes in the last six or seven games and Paul Boertien has only had 90 minutes all season.

"We only have 16 fit players in the squad and some of them need more work to get match-fit."
