How can I get this off my PC?:mad:

I keep doing a scan using a-squared and even though I delete it, everytime I do a scan it finds it.

I'm sure it's slowing my PC down!

Description:

Registry traces are known references of Spyware/Adware which are stored in the Windows registry database. Traces may be autorun keys which make Spyware/Adware run automatically on Windows startup. Traces may also be registrations of Spyware/Adware DLL files which are registered to hijack the Windows Explorer or the web browser.

Important:

Traces can not be harmful by definition. They are only some kind of helpers to enable Malware to be installed and run on your computer.

Tried using adaware? Search and destroy? CCleaner?

Use all of them!

CCleaner

Adaware

a-squared

spybot

AShampoo registry cleaner

But the feckers still there

doesn't hijackthis work for things like that? i've never used it, too complicated for me

It could do but way beyond my ability to risk messing with the report.

Try googling "Trace remover" and you'll find sites where you can find programmes to download which may help..

I take it that you don't have Spyware blaster installed on your PC?

(Should have stopped this happening in the first place)

Hijack this is your best bet now.

If you understand Spanish, follow these instructions

(you can at least match the English labels)...

Fíjate que no estén tildadas la primera ( “Mark everything found for fixing alter scanâ€Â) y la última (“Run Hijack This scan at startup and show it ítems are fondâ€Â). Luego presiona "Back"

Para empezar el escaneo de posibles hijackers, clickea en el botón "Scan". Se te presentará una lista con todos los elementos encontrados por el programa .

In any case, you can get Hijack from:

Even easier:

http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4086.html

This is a small utility for removing CoolWebSearch (aka CoolWwwSearch, YouFindAll, White-Pages.ws and a dozen other names). Spybot S&D and Ad-aware tend to forget essential parts of the hijack, so until they update, you can use this to completely remove the hijack. This program is updated to remove the new variants once they come out.

Hope this helps!!!

Hi Cisono,

Thanks for replying - Yes I do have spywareblaster on my PC but it's not stopped it any reason why?

It does show up as a problem with a-squared and I delete it but the next time I run it - there it is. Do I need to configure spywareblaster?

I not too keen on using Hijackthis - I have done before but have had someone guide me through it and tell me what to delete. If I posted a report could you identify what needs to be removed?

Sorry about all the questions.
