lookwhaticando Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has criticised the club's fans for being too quiet during their unbeaten run at Stamford Bridge. He said: "It's winter now and to sing and move is good to fight against the temperature. For a team with this record at home, I think the players deserve more support." Thracian Posted 14 November 2006 Posted 14 November 2006 BBC Sport Is he having a 'Roy Keane' moment? It'll be an ongoing problem. When success comes easy people get blasse about it. Only the truly extraordinary might rouse them. Plus, and Manchester United have suffered from this, clubs like Chelsea get the "got to be seen there" brigade suddenly turning up as supporters because it's the "in" place and its good to be seen to be associated with success. These people aren't real football fans, people who've supported Chelsea since they were nippers and would be there most every week whether they were champions or no better than a team off the Hackney Marshes. Football fans live the games, absorb the history, know the whole club inside out and would be there even if the stadium didn't have a roof or proper toilets. Fantasy fans probably spend two thirds of the game supping champagne and eating their prawnies. Ask them who plays centre-back for the reserves and they wouldn't have a clue. You'll never get much noise out of them. It's even worse than being among the teaching set in our West Stand. At least they usually give a polite clap when we score...instead of "Oh Rodney, did I hear we've got a goal?. Shall I pour or will you?"
