Louise Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 From thebluearmy.co.uk: HEARTS STARS LINED UP FOR CITY SWITCH BY BILL ANDERSON 10:30 - 04 January 2005 Hearts have confirmed that Alan Maybury and Mark De Vries look certain to be on their way to Leicester City, having agreed a fee for the pair of around £100,000. The Edinburgh club says that "both players are expected to be joining Leicester in the coming days" to mark the start of Craig Levein's team building. The City boss, though, remains cautious and said: "It is not quite as clear-cut as it appears from the Hearts end. We have kind of agreed a basic outline of what is going to happen but the details can sometimes take a bit longer and that is what we are working on. "I am loath to say anything more about it in case the whole thing doesn't happen, but the intention is to try to put a package together to bring those two players in." If all goes according to plan, both Maybury and De Vries will be available to face Blackpool in the FA Cup third-round tie at the Walkers Stadium on Saturday, but yesterday's goalkeeping hero Stuart Taylor will not be involved as Arsenal do not want him cup-tied. That means either a recall for Kevin Pressman or the surprise return of Ian Walker, who is back in full training this week as his long-term knee trouble has improved sufficiently. Levein might again go with the 3-5-2 formation he used for the first time against QPR yesterday and admitted: "I had thought about it for a little while. I prefer 4-4-2 but what tipped the balance was that Gillespie and Tiatto, although he was on the bench, were out and they would be wide men." The three-man defence saw Dion Dublin have an outstanding game and Levein said: "He has been probably our most consistent player since I have been here. I have not played him in the striking role yet because I don't see a real need to when he is doing well at the back. We will see what happens." Tiatto's comeback off the bench yesterday was marred by his 10th yellow card of the season and he now faces a two-match ban which comes into effect after the cup tie. http://www.thisisleicestershire.co.uk/disp...tentPK=11592851
Louise Posted 4 January 2005 Author Posted 4 January 2005 Well, I thought it was interesting anyway Should be a nice gentle introduction for Maybury and De Vries, and if De Vries isn't fit as seems to be the case I think he really needs to play. Add in some youth players and it should be an interesting game at least. It's also good to hear Walker is back in training, might be too soon for him on Saturday though, so we might have Pressman back in again.
Guest Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Interesting, hope it's true, we might even score from open play!

Scow Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 It would be nice to see Walker back. Funny how he looks set to return during the January period.

It's not the first time in the last few months that he's returned to full training but he usually strangely breaks down in the following weeks and doesn't get back in contention for the first team.

I guess the question is, assuming Walker gets through this week unscathed would he be preferable to Pressman and Logan even if he's still not fully fit?

Let's play Pressman, if he's fully fit that is. Logan is not meant to be good at all.
