Chandler Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Vengeance is mine... OK, so it's all Micky's fault then eh? Him and his signings right? So before I pummel your pale, pimply, rat infested arses into a midgets' chamber pot you are absolutely quite sure about this? RIGHT? SO...when all these signings were announced in June/July/August 2004 you were all doing your pea-brained nuts OK? You were keeping our TIM awake at night with a barrage of badly written emails? Right? So most of you said AT THE TIME what a heap of cack Dublin, Tiatto, Keown, Williams and Connolly were? None of you EVER said that we had one of the strongest squads in the Championship eh (if not THE strongest)? None of you EVER said what a brilliant job Bassett did in getting these players. None of you said that he had done an EVEN better job than a year before? None of you said after these signings had been made that we would get automatic promotion and none of you said that we might even finish as champions? None of you can remember that William Hill's installed us as favourites for the title after these acquisitions had been made (AND THAT IS WHERE THE REAL PROBLEM BEGAN - NOTHING MORE DANGEROUS THAN TO RAISE THE EXPECTATIONS OF THE LOWEST FORM OF POND LIFE)? And all of you, without exception, blamed all these signings as the reason why Adams had to go before he actually departed? You are all quite sure about this aren't you? Right, go back and check your posts on this board and the other site. You'll find with few exceptions most of you could find little or no fault with these players until very recently. The only signing who really got it in the neck was Jason Wilcox (a little ironic as he was a reasonable performer until he was clobbered). And even now there's nothing wrong with these players as you well know. You just can't bring yourselves to go for Levein because you twats effectively brought him in. Covering your pale pimply arses with 20/20 hindsight...

Covering your pale pimply arses with 20/20 hindsight... 51807 Petrescu I thought insults were banned on this forum, the guy's made 3 posts and has offended me numerous occasions in them! You're completely bonkers mate, on paper yeah we had the best team in the league, but teams don't always gel, I still think that individually in other teams these players would get by okay, but not as a team, players like Wilcox and Blake and Gemmill were no longer wanted by their former clubs and a lot of the others were looking for a new stonping ground to recieve their pay check, You cannot have a go at any of us mate, how were we supposed to know on never seeing these players play collectively and after their excellent pre-season how shocking they were going to perform as a team in the league!? Give Levein a chance will you, you can't buid a castle wih no bricks, let him get his players in, let him find the right mix, and then come on here if you're still not happy!
ForeverBlue Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Your arguement holds no weight Bonehead. So cos we all thought they were good signings at the time we are supposed to just allow our team to churn out clueless performances week in, week out??? Isnt Micky Adams supposed to know a bit more about footballers than us? could we not trust that he had enough inside knowledge of these players to know what he was doing?? We asumed it wasnt a game of Championship Manager (yeah he sounds good, I will have him) seems it was? Tell us in your next masterpiece how we are worse off now??

Covering your pale pimply arses with 20/20 hindsight... 51807 So there was nothing wrong with Adams or his players? what was wrong then? was it the ball? or maybe the goals were just in the wrong place? You dont have an arguement - we are better off as we are with a manager who has more than one tactic and is willing to build for the future.
Scow Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 A lot of City fans, including myself, thought that the signings over the summer were cracking purchasers by Adams. However, doesn't it say something about the manager if he can't get a bunch of players to perform, with supposedly the best squad in the division? Losing at home to the likes of Brighton and Watford, throwing away comfortable winning advantages, either by a lack of discipline, or a lack of organisation. Adams brought on the pressure himself by saying: ''Don't talk to me about the top 6, I want the top 2.'' The way we were playing and the results we were getting were not good enough. What we soon realised was that the bunch of singings Adams had drafted in were not good enough - In terms of ability and application. Adams had assembled a squad that was far too old, with many on 1 year contracts looking for their last pay day. Why would those on 1 year contracts be motivated to play where there is little chance of earning another contract? Nathan Blake being a typical example. Adams seemed to lose the plot towards the end of his reign here. He showed he was tactically naive in a number of his team selections, which resulted in a number of totally unacceptable performances against extremely mediocre opposition. Levein needs a chance to bring in his own players, we'll see glimpses of what he wants to do at the start of next season once he's cleared out all the deadwood. He can only work with the shower of shite he has at the minute. Adams had said judge me on his own team after 10 games – It was his own team, and it wasn’t good enough. 10/11 – I will never let you forget, Chandler.
davieG Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 I don't know about the others Chandler but I posted this list with appropriate comments Our OAPs Matt Elliot Born 18 November 1968 - Age 35 going 36 Dion Dublin Born 22 April 1969 - Age 35 Ian Walker Born 31 October - 1971 - Age 32 going 33 Lilian Nalis Born 29 September 1971 - Age 32 going on 33 Jason Wilcox Born 15 July 1971 – Age 33 Danny Tiatto Born 22 May 1973 - Age 31 Nikos Dabizas Born 3 August 1973 - Age 30 going on 31 Keith Gillespie Born 18 February 1975 - Age 29 James Scowcroft Born 15 November 1975 - Age 28 going on 29 Chris Makin Born 8 May 1973 – Age 31 Martin Keown Born 26 July 1966 – Age 38 I think you can guess from that I was not best pleased or optimistic. Even if I was excited oroptimistic about his signings, which I wasn't MA's signed the players and he was being paid a considerable amount of money for his so called expertise and strategy i.e 'experience with high salaries), which admittedly in hindsight has failed this club completely. I'm sure a number of people were optimistic when Peter Taylor splashed out £5 mill on Akinbyi but that doesn't make PT a good manager. What matters, and it's a harsh world is results, MAs had a better chance than most managers of influencing those results and make no mistake he had a bigger budget than almost any other manager in this league and he FAILED.
BartonFox Posted 4 January 2005 Posted 4 January 2005 Utter Shite Chandler and you know it. What did MA achieve after promotion witha bunch of players who were only motivated by their defered wages and potential bonuses? The squad he had assembled last year should have stayed up but it didn't because of his tactical ineptitude. Our insistance on humping the ball forward aimlessly failed and we were exposed by the most sub standard PL in years. In the summer he brought in some decent players who should be able to play at this level, but his tactics do not suit the players we have. We lack pace, we don't move the ball about on the floor. Keown, Tiatto, Connolly and Williams and even Gemmill have been brought up playing football on the deck. He asked them to transform their game in to his version of football which is dayed back in the 80's. Since he's gone the players have become that acustomed to playing shabby football it has almost become second nature. As I said before it all went tits up when the previous administration gave the credit card to Peter Taylor and then the new lot were too stupid to see the failings of Bassett and Adams. Under Levein we will progress but he is dealing with players he doesn't rate or want and until the end of January I suspect we won't see what his vision really is.
