DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 29 December 2006 Posted 29 December 2006 http://www.smh.com.au/news/football/sydney...6895473259.html Sydney FC will have three competition points deducted and be fined $129,000 after Football Federation Australia (FFA) today found the club guilty of breaching the A-League's Player Contracting Regulations (PCR).Sydney won't lose the points immediately and has seven days to appeal. If the club chooses not to appeal, the points will be deducted next Friday. Sydney currently sits second and a three point reduction would drop it to third place, just two points from dropping out of the top four and finals contention. They'll probably appeal, and providing the appeals process doesn't drag out the application, they could lose second place to Adelaide meaning they will lose the opportunity of two shots at a grand final place. 1 plays 2, 3 plays 4, both over two legs. Winner of 1v2 gets grand final place. Loser of 1v2 plays winner of 3v4 for second grand final place. Pretty crap if you ask me (who's ever heard of a playoff series final for 'number one' place in anything that's not Australian or Gaelic in origin??) but that's how it is.
