Cup 'minnows'

I am prepared to get shot down in flames here....

I am a LCFC supporter and love the glory of a cup run for a lower league side, sticking it to the big boys! However, I am sick of a few things:-

a) The attitude 'sometimes' of the lower league players, the 'real' footballers who seem to run about with a chip on their shoulder because they have either never been good enough to make it big, think they should be in the big time or at the end of their careers.

b) The commentators in these games, who are often so one sided to these lower teams and 'harp' on about them with this fact and that fact. The cost of the squad is only 4p compared to 1000 billion, that man is going back to being a window cleaner tommorrow (we all have jobs and i would play against a top side and sit at my desk now if given the chance!) and the other player earns 1million a year etc. Remember commentators, just beacuse most of the country hates the Chelseas, Man U, Arsenal etc. of this world, they still do have supporters. Supporters who some have probabilly followed them through bad patches before getting where they were now!

c) As a neutral i would have loved for example Wycombe to beat Chelsea last night, but the bigger picture (no offence to Wycomber fans) i want a Chelsea v arsenal/Spurs final. Not a repeat of Milwall in the FA Cup a few years back in one of the worse finals in memories (granted not all 'big' games are good but at least there are the Ronaldo, Drogbas on show - not Mooney showing again last night his amazing abilities!)

I love the lower sides doing well; the money; the 'giant' killing; 'David vs Goliath' and all the other rubbish the commentators spurt out. However, spare a thought for the fans of the bigger clubs (granted there are glory supporters, just as there are 'fair' weather supporters at every club!) and the neautrals who just want to see a good game - not an excuse for Bruce Barry the 6ft 5, 18st Bouncer playing up front - roughing up the nice boy Premiership defender - one for the lads-hey!

Rant over.....

On the other hand when Man U, Chelsea, Arsenal, Liverpool play the likes of Reading, Wigan et al the sycophancy for the 'big clubs' pouring out of the commentators mouths is of puke inducing proportions.

So there is a kind of balance there.

Its a good point, its just dawned on me when watching the Chelsea game last night.

I've also noticed if the big team lose it because they had their second team out or played poorly with little credit given to the other team. Mind you we seem to do that all the time now we're stuck down in this division thinking we have a divine right to be back in the Premiership.
