dannyallen1992 Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Does anybody on here know if a car with a crack in the altenator would pass its MOT? It still works fine, but the crack is quite noticeable. Cheers

Cheers i doubt it's an mot failure. road worthiness is what the mot is for, tyres, brakes, seatbelts etc. they wouldn't fail you on say a crack in a spark plugs ceramic. how did it crack?!
dannyallen1992 Posted 27 February 2007 Author Posted 27 February 2007 Not too sure to be honest. It went into the garage for a new clutch and, as it had been sat for 6 weeks, the battery had to be charged and they noticed it. Like i say it works fine, my mate seems to think they might pass it and just advise i look at doing something about it

lcfcalan Posted 27 February 2007 Posted 27 February 2007 Not sure if the car would pass its MOT , but the crack in the alternator would not be an issue. As Stez says , it is a safety check /roadworthy check that the MOT is about.
