Brainy Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Looks like hes starting to find some form. Possibly the form he is currently in may not be worth 30m. He was a good signing for Chelsea in my opinion, just the price tag was about 10-15m too much. After all the criticism he's received this season, isn't it about time the press started to praise him?

The press will always be on his back until he proves he is worth that price tag. A bit like Drogba now, when he first joined Chelsea he got a lot of stick and now they love him.

Joe. Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 I'm glad he's finding a bit of form. He's got 13 this season I think now... He's received so much stick and been made a scapegoat. Hopefully starting to prove a few people wrong now
Guest Gist Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 The Sun was praising him after the goal in midweek. Can't blame them. Yeah there are some things they can't criticise when it's that obvious, his goal on Monday was pure class.
Brainy Posted 21 March 2007 Author Posted 21 March 2007 I might be taking a risk in saying but 13 goals isn't bad, especially when they have about.. 10-12 games left. Like I said, the problem is that he was bought for 30m.

Brainy Posted 21 March 2007 Author Posted 21 March 2007 I'm not trying to say it is his fault. Buy him for 15m and he may be considered a success. What im trying to say is that the price tag has done him no favours this season.
Mort Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 All I'll say is he usually works his arse off and plugs away... he looked shaky at the start of the season, but then his form plumeted, now he seems to have some confidence, we'll see... but i think he'll show some real class next season and he should be more settled.
Flexx Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Shaun Wright-Phillips is playing well at the moment aswell. Isnt it a coincidence how Wright-Phillips, Shevchenko and Ashley Cole are playing well all of a sudden. That just leaves Michael 140 grand a week ballack
The Reverend Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 Shevchenkos a class player - you never lose that (even though hes not that old). Hes been unlucky - hes had parts of the season where hes hardly played and i think hes suffered from Mourinhos stubborness- he kept playing him for like 70 minutes when he needed full games to really get his game going. Now hes getting that, hes starting to bag a few and looking a much better player.the criticism hes received has been too much. He didnt ask to be sold for 30 million.
Joe. Posted 21 March 2007 Posted 21 March 2007 His goalscoring record in Italy speaks for itself. He's still a class player.
Tevez Posted 22 March 2007 Posted 22 March 2007 Sheva is the Business, i've back him since the start of the season.
Geo V Posted 22 March 2007 Posted 22 March 2007 Shaun Wright-Phillips is playing well at the moment aswell. Isnt it a coincidence how Wright-Phillips, Shevchenko and Ashley Cole are playing well all of a sudden. That just leaves Michael 140 grand a week ballack SWP, like Robben dont play often enough as Mourinho prefers playing four central mids. If SWP had a real run in a side, hopefully for Liverpool next season where he will be appreciated, we would see a class player again who can set-up and score goals from the wing. A rarity in todays English game!
lcfc_jme Posted 22 March 2007 Posted 22 March 2007 No question he was class in Italy. Over here he's been average at best simply because of matters which are out of his hands - the price he was brought for. I know it has been mentioned, but had he been brought for half of that price tag, he'd have been considered a success for his goalscoring and overall contribution. Maybe he'll blossom next season much like Drogba did this year? He needs to get a move on though, he's no spring-chicken...
