davieG Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Note: this could easily apply to all those LCFC players that proclaim RK is a great coach. From Sky Everton defender Phil Neville has leapt to the defence of embattled England manager Steve McClaren. McClaren has come under increasing pressure after his honeymoon period came to an end last autumn and the draw in Israel on Saturday only added to the unrest. The knives have been sharpened behind McClaren's back, but Neville feels the finger of blame should be pointed at the players rather than the manager. "There should be no pressure at all on Steve McClaren as it is the players out there," Neville told Sky Sports News. "It is disappointing when you hear the fans chanting and some of the things they chanted, but the players take full responsibility. "We are the ones out there and he could not have prepared us any better, he probably could not have picked a better team." England are playing catch-up in Group E behind Croatia and Russia, but Neville is confident The Three Lions will secure qualification to Euro 2008. He added: "There is still a long way to go and you don't qualify at this early stage of the campaign. "We always tend to leave ourselves a bit of an uphill task, it goes with the history of this country. "There are some big games to come and if we win our home games and pick up some points away from home we will qualify."
Fez of Mahrez Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 "We always tend to leave ourselves a bit of an uphill task, it goes with the history of this country. I've read and heard this sort of thing a lot lately. It might be intended as an optimistic view of how things are all going to turn out alright but it just comes across as a dismissal of yet another poor performance as unimportant.
lookwhaticando Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Note: this coluld easily apply to all those LCFC players that proclaim RK is a great couch. It's no wonder he can't motivate players and work out his own tactics when there's people sitting on him all the time. -------------------------------- Phil Neville obviously isn't aware of his own shitness if he thinks our best team featured him at left-back instead of a left-footed player such as Barry.

When it comes to England I'm just any armchair fan PS Neville played RB, Carragher was LB - still shite and still stupid when we hand regular LB & RB on the bench!
JoeyB Posted 25 March 2007 Posted 25 March 2007 Tbh the team he picked was shite, P.Neville should never play for England again, just look at him he's a joke, McLarens a joke, Englands a joke and Wenger for England manager
