Matt Hampson Bowl

Hey everyone.

A week on Monday (the 28th) Welford Road is hosting the Matt Hampson bowl, and im playing and just thought i would put something on here to alert you all to it and try and persuade you to come along.

Basically, Matt Hampson was an extremely promising young Rugby player for the Tigers, and was also in the England youth team. When practising on a scrum machine with the England team, he broke his neck and is now a quadriplegic, i.e. paralysed.

The Matt Hampson trust was set up to raise money to support him as it will cost huge amounts of money over his life time to do so.

On the 28th May, there will be a charity american football match to raise money for the trust. I am sure many of you have no interest in American football, but it is for charity.

The Loughborough University team, the Loughborough Aces, will be playing a reformed Leicester Panthers adult team. The Panthers folded in the 90's when senior american football in the UK died out, but have re-united for this game. And many of you will not know, but Martin Johnson played for the Panthers before signing with Leicester Tigers, and is playing in the game! The Aces are one of the most successful UK collegiate teams ever, and were finalists this past year.

Also, if the Tigers win the Heineken cup this weekend, they are going to come along and parade it round the pitch at half time!!

Tickets are only £5 pounds, and you can find out more details by going either to www.matthampson.co.uk or www.leicesterpanthers.co.uk where you can also buy tickets, or alternatively there will be tickets available on the door on the day.

Even if you dont particularly like American football, come along anyway, as it promises to be a great day out. Thousands of tickets have already been sold, so there should be a good number of people there. Go on, its for a good cause.

If you want to know anything else, just ask!! Hope some of you will be able to make it. Anyone planning to??

Good Luck trying to tackle Martin Johnson!!!!!!!!

Wish i could go, i'm off to the Heineken final on sunday but will still be in London for my exams that day.

Hope it's a good day as it is for a great cause. I saw a programme on him and everything that happened and how he was saying he had no regrets and didn't blame the sport one bit. Unbelieveable thing to happen at his age.

Yeah it really is. Seen him on TV a few times and unbelieveable really is the only word. It makes you thankful for what you have
