And will hopefully take us to where we belong As some people suggest and post transfer rumors and when big names come up people automatically say "no chance"
Vennegoor10 Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 really dnt know at this point, it confirms we are a club with a bit more money for wages and thats about it at the moment! i always feel that if i was a aplyer having an contract discussion with martin allen i'd be literally scared away so the players must like the club properly, hopefully anyway.

And will hopefully take us to where we belong As some people suggest and post transfer rumors and when big names come up people automatically say "no chance" I don't think those signings show we are an attractive club, especially the signing of Hellings who probably didn't think he would ever get a chance in football again after his disaster so he was likely to snap at the chance to simply join a team. I do believe though the club is more attractive to potential signings than it has been since the turn of the millenium.

The original poster seems to believe that having attracted some relatively big names, we might have more pull in the transfer market now... etc etc.
Tomassi Posted 19 June 2007 Posted 19 June 2007 We appear to be a club going places, and that has shown in the quality of the signings we have made so far. I still cant believe some fans are moaning about the signings we have made, we have players with champions league experience, full internationals and future upcoming stars. An absolute blend of youth and experience to quite a young squad already. I feel this, along with the clubs/chairmans and managers ambitions will attract some real quality to the club. I am not holding out for promotion this season, a top ten finish would be remarkable. but in Allens second season in charge my expectation will raise somewhat and a top 6 must be the finish at least.

I feel that with the drive and ambition shown by the manager and the chairman we are an attractive club, the extra wages we can pay is also a bonus. We have a big new(ish) stadium and a good following. Any player wishing to cut his teeth at high level would appreciate the plans being put in place by the new set up and want to be a part of that. E.G nicky shorey at reading, came from l orient made his debut for england against brazil in the past month.

Amen, defo agree wid dat, but it would be nice to push for the play-offs this season, with some quality players behind us.

MA's being backed and given every opportunity to strengthen the team. if he has the players at his disposal then least it hasnt worked the way MA wanted it to, not with someone elses(previous managers) team. In answer to the original question i think we are becoming a more attractable club to join, id say about 90% down to the success Mandaric had at portsmouth. Still like to see a big money striker come in to fire us to the title... Torres for 25mill? :thumbsup:
