Policeman Dick was a well-liked friendly policeman who was always ready with a smile and a wave to passers by. The trouble was Policeman Dick was sometimes clumsy and absent-minded. There were many times when he and Homeless Mathew laughed about the times Dick forgot which hand he was holding his trunceon in and accidently hit Jack around the head instead of waving. When he was taking a prisonor to the cells he nearly always forgot to warn them about a bit of carpet sticking up at the top of the stairs. 'Don't forget to warn burglar Jim about the carpet' Seargent Matt used to say. But sure enough as soon as he'd left the room, Policeman Dick had forgotten those wise words. Still it all turned out fine in the end. Homeless Mathew won a million pounds on the lottery married a supermodel then went to live in Los Angeles where the policeman know which hand is holding the trunceon.. Burglar Jim gave up his life of crime and became a carpet fitter. So now you can always find Policeman Dick sitting outside the police station mending the daily puntures on his bike.
