Simi Posted 15 November 2007 Posted 15 November 2007 I'd actually play Sheehan at left-back and Mattock on the left wing. I might be alone in that but I think Mattock needs the same reduced responsibility that he had when he broke into the team on the left wing under Worthington and Sheehan has proven he is no left winger with his performances against Charlton and Plymouth (truly appalling). He did play well there at home to Watford I admit before anyone mentions it but that seems to have been a one-off team performance. But I thought you wanted 3-5-2? Or have I missed something in previous posts... But yeah, if we were to go to 4-4-2 I would say that Mattock is best placed left wing with Sheehan behind him. Sheehan is definitely best suited as a left back, not always convinced when he is going forward from wing back, but he does knock a few great balls over that are always worth a few goals a season. Mattock is still steadily improving, he just needs to get a decent run in the team going, he wont get that at the moment though with him being so young I don't think managers are to keen on playing him for that long. Megson certainly wasn't.

Nobody plays it anymore. So 3-5-2 in the short-term before we get a manager and 4-4-2 in the long-term I suppose.

Somehow I can't see them going with Mattock, meaning? Newton wide left?

Erm... that's about it.

Well, you'd think. Pre-season he looked good I thought, got a couple of tricks with him maybe lacks final ball. I can see Hayes turning into the new Kaebi with time! Although I've heard stuff of him going off on loan..
