Jonbluefox9 Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Roy Carroll was a keeper Taylor was after at the same time as Walker. United came in and nicked him of us so Taylor had to look elsewhere. Walker was the alternative and the rest is history. I think Ian was a better keeper at the time but we did spend a little bit too much for him imo.
Little Nicky Posted 22 March 2005 Posted 22 March 2005 Actually, We were in for Carroll, but then pulled out at the last minute, and Man U came in for him as a total shock! Then in came Walker! I watched an interview recently with Carroll that backed this up! We pulled out, we didn't get pipped, he said he was devastated that Leicester had pulled out of signing him and thought he'd missed his chance, but was elated when he heard Manchester United of all people had come in instead!
