dandannieldanok Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 I know there are practically no professional cycling fans on here (except for me) but I think the shock return of Lance Armstrong is worth a mention on here. This guy is a true inspiration and a fantastic sportsman, I for one can't wait to see him back on the circuit and back in the Tour de France. Cycling as a sport has been dragged through the shit in recent years so to have a mega star with the honesty and integrity of Armstrong back in the sport can only be a good thing. As for how well he'll perform, who knows? Armstrong has come through so much in his life in the face of adversity it wouldn't surprise me if he went on and won the 2009 Tour. Personally, I can't it happening myself, he'll be a marked man in the peloton and the inevitable return of Contador and his Astana team will see the quality of his opponents rise compared to year's gone by. I just hope he doesn't crumble and at least puts in an admirable performance on his return.

dandannieldanok Posted 10 September 2008 Author Posted 10 September 2008 Didnt he cheat though? It's never been proven and as far as I know he has never been tested positive for any banned substance in all of his years of racing.
The Reverend Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 I dont know anything about cycling, but i thought iheard he had http://www.drmirkin.com/fitness/Lance_Armstrong.html I dunno.

People like the person in this article have come up with theories about him cheating, and considering the success he has had and the drugs in cycling it is understandable to doubt the validity of his victories. But if you consider actual testing that has occurred, he has not tested positive once to my knowledge.

Well if he's been tested regularly, and hes never tested positive, then as far as im concerned, he's not a cheat. Simple as that.

Simple as that. My sentiments exactly mate, we'll never know what any sportsperson gets up to outside of drug testing periods so all we can really do is judge by the test results.

Neither have half of them but its common knowledge they do take drugs. My Dad is majorly in to cycling and is annoyed by how drug bases the sport is. EDIT - I'm not suggesting LA has cheated, its just some do.
Alexikokopops Posted 10 September 2008 Posted 10 September 2008 If I've learnt anything from this man they take drugs.
