Going for one liners is a good move, Step (especially if you have profound difficulties with English grammar and syntax).

In future try something original, rather than a hackneyed phrase.

Try a little play on words.

A bit of anticlimax (bathos) never goes amiss.

And a lateral thought (take 'em by surprise).

All the ingredients there for a good insult.
