davieG Posted 29 April 2005 Posted 29 April 2005 Dublin disappointed by double failure Dion Dublin has blamed Leicester's lowly Championship position on repeated failures at both ends of the park. After being released by Aston Villa, Dublin arrived at Leicester anticipating a promotion push back to the Premiership but the Walkers Stadium club have instead been forced to settle for mid-table mediocrity. The 36-year-old said: "We've matched a lot of sides this season but have given too many goals away. In a nutshell, we're conceding too many goals at the back and not scoring enough up front, that's why we are where we are. "That's been the story of our season - we haven't made the most of our opportunities and have then conceded at the back which is very frustrating, especially as I'm playing as a centre-half at the moment. "The manager [Craig Levein] has tried everything to stop us leaking goals from set-pieces so it's all the more disappointing." If only
Guest Posted 29 April 2005 Posted 29 April 2005 We haven't actually conceeded that many goals, compared with other sides in this division, although the number of goals conceeded from set pieces is worrying, although is that because there aren't a lot going in anyway? I think that the lack of goals scored is a bigger problem for us. There have been times when we've dominated possession and not capitalised, only to be done by the one chance the opposition get. Whilst it would be great not to let those goals in, if we had been a couple to the good, would it have mattered as much?

Our goals against record isnt actually that bad, its been scoring goals thats been the problem. One thing that we do have to do is eliminate these mistakes from set pieces. I feel that there is promise for next season though if we can sort these two areas out.
