davieG Posted 12 May 2005 Posted 12 May 2005 Although I agree the FA is poorly managed i think it's a bit rich the Premier league slagging them off. I wouldn't call the Premier league a sustainably success unless you are looking through very pink glasses. It's totally uncompetitive and by it's inherent financial structure dooms 3 clubs every year to totter on the brink of extinction, hardly a recommendation of good management. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Premier League have launched a scathing attack on The Football Association over the working relationship between both bodies. Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore has handed a submission to Lord Terence Burns, who is currently conducting a review of The FA, casting doubt between the futures of the two bodies together. The findings of the review are expected to be announced before the end of July and in their submission The Premier League call for their 20 member clubs to have a greater influence on the England team and FA Cup and have better communication with Fifa and Uefa. The Premier League have also raised reservations about the present structure of The FA, with a 92-man council - whose membership includes county members - and numerous committees, feeling it is outdated. "The current way of working is unsustainable. Trust is lacking in the game at every level," the report states. "The tensions that have existed since the creation of professional football continue and there is an underlying sense of conflict and alienation. "The relationship between the professional and amateur game has never been properly resolved and now is the time to do so." On the England issue Scudamore's report said: "The clubs can feel very detached from the decisions that are made. It makes sense for the Premier League and the clubs to feel greater, not less, involvement and ownership." With regards to The FA Cup Scudamore claimed: "Antagonism can occur due to clubs feeling the FA Cup is not really theirs in any meaningful way. "This is unhealthy for the game as a whole." The Premier League also claim The FA cannot manage the development of the £757 million Wembley stadium and the on-off £20 million National Football Centre near Burton-upon-Trent which could yet be abandoned. "The FA board is no longer capable of properly managing its roles. The strains and tensions have resulted in conflict and friction," said the report.
