After Assou-Ekotto claimed the money is his motivation in the above article, I thought his honesty was refreshing and that it was unlikely another footballer would come out and admit the same thing.

How does everyone else see this?

If my memory serves me right did a certain Mr Collymore not say the same thing too?

Respect to him for telling it like it is. We all love football and would play football professionally for the love of the game, but when you're in a new environment with no affinity to the club, country or the people you play with or for, it's just a job. It's great that he's being honest.

Can hardly blame him. Football is a short career and anyone who thinks a player who grew up with no affiliation to their club plays for them purely for the love of it must be deluded. Fair play to him.
