Clive Redman Posted 4 March 2011 Posted 4 March 2011 Alan Young talks about the charity cycle ride being organised in memory of his former friend and City team-mate, Bobby Smith... Former City striker Alan Young (pictured below) was good friends with Bobby and paid tribute to his fellow Scot and his sons for organising the charity cycle ride. “It was a sad, sad day when I attended Bobby’s funeral. There are so many funny stories that I could tell you about Bobby. One thing that will always stay with me is the friendship that Bobby, Eddie Kelly, Martin Henderson and I had. Jock Wallace nicknamed us the ‘four musketeers’ and we were like brothers really. “It’s about a year ago that we lost the wee fella and it’s difficult to comprehend that someone my age has passed away. He was a great friend, even though he was a moany little bugger on the pitch! I still miss him now and it still makes me very sad when I think about losing Bobby. “The cycle ride is a fantastic idea and Bobby’s sons are an absolute credit to him. Although I won’t be able to take part in the ride, I’ll be looking to help out the Bobby Smith Foundation as much as I can. I hope they’ve got some good overnight accommodation planned. My advice to Bobby’s wife Dot would be to not worry about cycling down, you get the bus love!” For the full article see... http://www.soarmagazine.co.uk/2011/03/04/the-bobby-smith-charity-cycle-ride/
