Clive Redman Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 "There will be testing times ahead and it certainly won’t be an easy season. It doesn’t matter how much money you spend, at the end of the day, it’s going to come down to much more than that to get out of this division. "Another striker to get the goals will be important and that stood out a mile against Real Madrid, but we trust in Sven and I’m sure the club haven’t finished spending yet. I’d be expecting at least one more new arrival and I’m sure the club will be bringing in a top striker. Shane Long from Reading would be a great signing. "It’s a fantastic position for the manager to be in to actually have some money to spend, so it’s happy days at the moment. But, like I’ve said, the team have got to be playing at the top level so there will be plenty of extra pressure to accompany the investment. "Reaching the Premier League means you can pack your stadium every week so we need to recreate that buzz the team had from playing season on season in the Premier League because there is nothing better than that." B52 Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 "that stood out a mile against Real Madrid" Yes Steve, we're going to be playing the Galaticos every week. Agree, if the strikers fail to deliver the mf or defence will.... We can put Howard up front and literally open the flood gates. I wonder how many of our players, not the strikers(I count Gally as a midfielder), will reach 10 goals each this season.
leicester4life Posted 5 August 2011 Posted 5 August 2011 I think you missed my point a little, meant we aren't going to be facing teams any way near as good as Real.
Clive Redman Posted 12 August 2011 Author Posted 12 August 2011 "I’m pleased that Matt Mills has been given the captaincy. I think Richie Wellens is a fantastic player and he’s done a great job when he has been skipper, but and I can understand why Sven’s chosen Matt. It’s better to have a captain who runs things from the back, you can see everything and get everybody organised. Wellens will still be an instrumental player, though, and he’s still top man at this club. "Jeff Schlupp looked like a lost school kid in the first half but he was amazing in the second half, which was good to see. If he can finish like that then he’s going to be a player for now and the future, and I think he’ll have a role to play this season. "It’s good to have someone with that much potential coming through the ranks. I wouldn’t say he’s quite ready yet, but you never know with kids. You can throw them in and they can excel. Me and David Lowe were thrown in at 17 at Wigan Athletic and never looked back. It’s a great start for Jeff and I’m really pleased that he knocked a hat-trick in, it will have done him the world of good."
