Why press the panic button? The answers are within this squad

I am in no way condoning Saturday's performance. It was poor, really poor for a side with the squad of players we have, but we have to calm down a little bit and have a little, here's that word again, patience.

First of all I feel some acknowledgement is owed to Millwall and Kenny Jackett, who came to Leicester, a team on a winning home run of 4 games, and tactically exploited Sven Goran Eriksson's diamond. Millwall are no mugs, they defended, when they had too, sturdily and broke with devastating effect. I've always been a fan of Brian Howard and again thought he was top draw and big Henderson up top was a constant nightmare for our backline with his man of the match display.

And so to the diamond. Well, I've always been a fan of pace and width and for me, yet again, that game cried out for it. I was happy to see Eriksson bring on Dyer and Vassell at the break but by then the real damage had been done. This diamond requires movement and fluidity to work, just as it had against Derby, but for me, too often than not, this team does not have the ability to play it and furthermost, this league, 9 times out of 10, doesn't allow you to play it.

I've never been a fan of Eriksson's appointment here and it's due to the reasoning why we're struggling to build momentum. His stubbornness. With players such as Dyer, Vassell and Danns at your exposal, (all of which did not start Saturday, one not even making the bench), we have real pace and real attacking poise to help the likes of Nugent and Beckford out. Their key attribute is what so many good Championship players have, their positivity and willingness to run at defenders.

Sacking Eriksson is not even an option for me though. I don't think that is the answer. This club needs consistency and I'll grow to love him if he can achieve the goals he's been set here, however he plays to do it.

I do feel the fans need to back him though and get behind what we have here. The expectation is massive and this group of players, a decent set of players, are having to handle this kind of pressure which is relatively new to a lot of them.

Some fans seem to be there to shout pointless negativity out of the stands thought and it's moronic chants that don't even contribute to how we're playing from people I can only assume have never kicked a football in their life. For instance when Konchesky went over to take a corner some bloke behind me shouted, "a full back taking corners? Well that says it all doesn't it" Pardon? How on any level does that make any sense? It's just people moaning at pointless matters for the sake of moaning.

It's going to be a long season and this division is so close that even with a couple of defeats your still very much in touch with the top 6. We have to stay positive and trust Eriksson will get it right. The answers are there he just has to take off those tinted specs of his, swallow a little pride and find them.

Agree with Falcon, especially about the stubbornness.

My worry about Sven is the lack of variety in his approach to tactics,....

in the game against Derby,we were winning 2 nil but it was an edgy second half until Howard & Shulpp came on and offered something different, result ,comprehensive win, their reward, not on the bench for the next game or any game since..

Millwall are no mugs

Wasnt their record away from home something like not won in nine before they played us?

pointless negativity

The performance was utterly shocking... thats how it made us feel..we are only human

We have to stay positive and trust Eriksson will get it right.

Why do we have to.... with signs that its getting right then fine, but the inconsistency is there for all to see

Lets turn this argument on its head... why stick with 'pointless positivity'.... why don't we consider making a change, giving the players a fresh set of ideas and shaking it up a bit. I genuinely believe that the performance against Millwall was one of the worst I've seen any City side put it in a long long time... devoid of ideas, commitment, chances..you name it, it was lacking. Call this 'negativity' if you like, I call it how it was...

Perhaps a shake up is EXACTLY whats needed? Why is this in some way 'negative'.. maybe the 'negative' thing to do is to stick with something which ain't working?

Now theres a thought...................

I do fully agree with you however, that 'the answers are within this squad'..it amazes me therefore how such a talented squad of players could play like they did against Brum and Millwall... you're making the argument for me if you really think about it..

'Col City Fan' - That really singles out my point. The answers are in this squad and it is down to Eriksson to change these negative rigid systems of his and really get at teams. We're one of the big favourites, and so we should be with the amount of money spent, so why don't we attack teams and show them exactly why we're favourites?

The pointless negativity from Leicester fans that I refer to is from those who seem to shout ridiculous comments that have no connection in how we're playing or what we're trying to do. It's those I condone and would say if they have nothing constructive, or even relevant to say, just don't say anything at all.

Eriksson is not my choice of manager, he's not a very good one in my eyes, at this level anyway, but I think we must stick with him and try to muster up some consistency which has been lacking since the fruitful reign of Mr Pearson, one which was cut untimely short but then that's another issue all together.
