dave the caveman Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 P10 W3 D4 L3 S14 C11 Pts13 .... One more draw and a loss and he is as bad as Paulo Sousa. Extropolated over the season this gives us: P46 W14 D18 L14 S64 C51 Pts60 Which would have been good enough to finish 15th last season and 13th the season before. However, this doesnt tell the whole story. During Pearson's time we've played against teams who's average position (as of today) is 15th, and we've played one more home game than away. We can use a basic and debatable formula as follows to take this into account: Home = -15% Away = +15% -and- Top 8 team = +25% Middle 8 = no change Bottom 8 = -25% With these changes in effect, Pearson's current tenure yields 12.05 points, which extropolated as before gives us a grand total of 55 points. This would have left us finishing in 19th last season, although thankfully still some 13 points clear of relegation.
Ross 'LCFC' Turner Posted 14 January 2012 Posted 14 January 2012 What we need to look at aswell is the opposition! Most of the teams we've played under Pearson we should be beating if we want to even think of getting into the play offs. But we've threw away points agains teams such as: Portsmouth (x2), Hull, Peterbrough, Doncaster, Ipswich, Barnsley. Embarrassing.

Half of the original post was about taking the opposition into account!
