PRIOR09 Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 How many of you are as optimistic as me ahead of the new season. I think that david connolly will get 20+ goals and De Vries will come good. Midfield looks strong with Hughes + Williams in the centre, with Sylla + Tiatto on the wings, There is also Kisnorbo + Wilcox + hopefully another new signing to fill the gaps if needed. Also in defence we have Maybury who has been a top signing by CL + so has McCarthy, hopefully more of the same. Hopefully we wil see Kenton team up with McCarthy again as they were a good partnership. In Douglas we have a solid experienced goalkeeper who will help guide a young defence. I also feel we can look forward to some more exciting signings by CL for all positions. Also we have some good squad players such as Dion + Gudjonsson. Stearman + Sheehan will hopefully be making a decent amount of appearances. BRING ON THE GOOD TIMES AGAIN! So what does everyone else think? COME ON CITY
Leicester_Mad Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 i wish i was as optimistic....these new players will need time to gel and with no players able to link them such as the older boys like Heath and Wright (older as in time at the club) there will be a slow start to the season i think...
Nationwider Posted 1 July 2005 Posted 1 July 2005 I've not started drinking yet, so I can't get quite as delirious as that. ;)I'm cautiously optimistic that we'll make top 6 this season. The main reason for this is that I have some belief in CL's policy of quality over quantity. Yes, the squad is very light at the moment, but he's not prepared to waste any time (or wages) on those that aren't in it for the long haul. This is good to see. Hopefully clearing the deadwood will help new growth to come through from the youth set-up as well. Ultimately, it will be CL's management that gets us anywhere near the play-offs this year. We don't have the finances we used to, and the name Leicester City doesn't hold the same pull as it did for prospective players a few years back. He'll have to earn his £Â£Ã‚£s for every league point because we're starting well behind the start-line compared to some this year. We only have 16 first-teamers at the moment, but the vast majority of those are of a decent quality. CL must get them playing now. He didn't last year, but we should judge him next May.
