Boozer Saves The Day

Dangler was relaxing, what for him was a hectic morning. With him by his feet was Boozer his faithful guide dog of sorts. Boozer was not your run of the mill guide dog. His parentage was still a mystery. But as a guide dog he was more than able. He needed to be with Dangler as a master. Boozer was also relaxing legs stretched out with his head on front paws. He dreamed his favourite dream. A continuous queue of postmen that he would chase away as each one approached the front door. Boozer did not like postmen. In fact he felt it was his duty as a dog to not to like them and in that respect he was top dog.

Boozer’s head shot up as he heard a familiar voice.

‘Dangler, are you ready, it’s the beer fest today.’

Boozer barked waking Dangler from a light sleep.

‘Is that you Robert?, Yes, I am all ready, I’ll be along in a minute.’

He turned to Boozer, ‘Come on boy time for a walk.’

After having his lead put on Boozer and Dangler went to the front of the house where Robert and Mike were waiting.

‘Hurry up’, Mike said, ‘I have a long list of new beers to go through.’

Soon the friends were at the Leicester Beer Festival. Mike and Robert found a table and helped Dangler to a chair while they went to fetch the drinks. All was going well and they had gone through about 20 of the 200 or so beers available between them. Mike was feeling pleased with the number of ales he had ticked off. But as they say not all good things last. Suddenly and without warning the hall was pitched into blackness as the lights went out.

There was pandemonium as all around people were stumbling into each other and trying not to spill their beers.

‘Has anyone got a torch?’ Mike asked, ‘I need a refill.

Dangler sighed. ‘You don’t need a torch Mike, just a good pair of eyes.’

He bent down to Boozer at his feet and put on his lead.

‘Come on Boozer show us the way out.’ Boozer barked happily pleased that his help was once more needed in a crisis.

‘Robert, grab of my waist,’ Dangler said, ‘then Mike you hold onto Robert and everyone can join in our human train.’

Soon everyone in the hall were doing the conga to the safety of the car-park outside.

Unfortunately the festival was canceled for the day but when the three friends returned the next day Dangler was given the freedom of the bar which not only pleased him but Mike too as he was able to tick all the new ales that he needed.

Boozer was not forgotten for the part he played in what became known as, ‘The rescue at the Fest’ He was allowed to sample one or two ales and by his reaction afterwards everyone agreed his favourite was ‘Baz’s Bonce Blower.’
