NottsFox Posted 18 March 2013 Posted 18 March 2013 I disagree there, not sure we would, the owners would likely invest quite heavily and I seriously can't see them allowing NFP to blow their cash even if he did get us up. I suppose I agree with that. But, for me personally, the quality of the championship this year has not been like previous years, where QPR ran riot and were clearly the best, or even like Southampton/Reading were last year but to a lesser extent. They all played constant quality football all year (Reading apart from the start). WHEREAS, this year I think the reason the championship is so competitive and looks better than it is, is because everyone is either as bad, or as good (depending on how you look at it) as each other. Cardiff, running away at the top, but I haven't seem them play extremely well constantly and have been worryingly bad recently. And the rest of the pack challenging for promotion have been very inconsistent to previous years. I think it shows that everyone is really below-par. I doubt one squad from the championship as it stands would bare a chance in the prem next year without major reconfiguration. I personally struggle to see from the current lot who would be able to stay up in the top flight next year, unless going on a spending spree. I fear for us that, if we did go up, Nige may be unable to cut it in the premier league with seemingly mediocre tactics and inconsistency, hence my concerns. Our squad is no way near good enough and would need big changes. Perhaps a repeat of Derby for the lucky three this year? Just my crazy opinion!

I would have said exactly the same about the squads of Southampton, Reading etc and while they aren't exactly setting the EPL alight, they aren't significantly struggling. Our young squad would improve. undoubtedly, we would need to spend, as any promoted team does, but i'd be confident of us staying up for sure. Also, on the note of playing THAT team in a play off final, it would certainly be a massive game. Should we win I would be happy forever. Should we lose, I don't think I could handle the team that doesn't care about us pretending not to care because we aren't in the same league, being in the Premier League while we dwindle in the Championship again. What's worse, I go to uni there, and while my premier league team supporting mates would like it as a close away game, I explain to them and persuade them that this is not a good thing. Don't think they are convinced. Personally really looking forward to May 4th. The closer it gets, the more likely it looks like it could be a crucial game. Bring it on!!
