Blues Move For Butt

Birmingham City have agreed a deal with Newcastle United over the loan capture of midfielder Nicky Butt.

The former Manchester United man endured a difficult first season at St James' after spending his entire career at Old Trafford.

Blues are set to bag Butt on a year-long loan deal with a view to sealing a £2 million deal come season's end.

Butt was in Newcastle's squad to face Deportivo La Coruna on Wednesday, but has now been withdrawn in order to seal his move to St Andrew's.

"Birmingham have agreed a deal with Newcastle for midfielder Nicky Butt on a season long loan with a view to a permanent transfer at the end of the season worth £2 million," read a Newcastle statement on their official website.

"The 30-year-old will join up with former Manchester United team mate and Birmingham manager Steve Bruce in the deal that brings Nicky Butt to St. Andrew's."

He would be a decent signing but i think he has gone well past his best and i doubt he would have a major impact. Leaving Man Utd affected him mentally and you could see that in his performances last season.
