davieG Posted 15 August 2005 Share Posted 15 August 2005 Riordon, anyone would think they were the Chelsea of the Championship Hibernian manager Tony Mowbray has confirmed Cardiff City's renewed interest in striker Derek Riordan. The 22-year-old, who is expected to make his Scotland debut against Austria on Wednesday, has been earmarked by Bluebirds manager Dave Jones, who is desperate to boost his side's firepower. Mowbray revealed to the Edinburgh Evening News: "I haven't had any conversations with anybody but there was contact with the chairman last week. "Nothing is done or agreed and there is nothing happening for the moment because Derek is away with Scotland in Austria. It's business as usual at present as far as I'm concerned." Mowbray also confirmed that Cardiff had made an initial enquiry a month ago but feels that the latest transfer speculation may adversely affect Riordan's performances. "Cardiff also made contact a month ago and nothing happened. They made contact last week and still nothing has happened. "Derek played at the weekend and he's with the national squad just now so I think it's a little unfair that this is raising its head again," he added.
