FRUSTRATION

Can this week get any more frustrating????

An omen of what was to come was when I bumped into Shane from Napalm Death at Birmingham Airport - Then discovered he was on the same flight as me to Amsterdam - That was pleasent - I've not really spoken to Shane for over 10 years so it was cool to catch up - Although it made me a bit jealous that he's still playing and I ain't

So, I got to Holland only to be told that I'm being diverted (workwise) to some place in Belgium called Hasselt

Arrive at Hasselt to find a festival site set up - Next to the factory complex I'm in - Turns out it's the Pukkelpop 2005 Festival - What a wind up - Today is the first day proper - So in aprox 30 mins time I will have the sound of the bands coming through the windows whilst I'm stuck in a dreary 1950s factory testing computers :( - To make matters worse it's already 30 degrees outside

I came up with the cunning plan of working at 100 miles an hour today then rushing back to the hotel, getting changed and charging off to the festy - At least I'd catch the late afternoon and evening - Unfortunetly all hotels in the area are full (due to the festival - Doh!!) So I'm waiting for an update on where I stay tonight - Might end up 30 - 40 miles away - I did suggest that my work should supply me with a tent and a 3 day ticket instead of a hotel! - But they didn't go for that option :(

And finally, As I was checking out of the hotel this morning a tour bus pulled up and the driver came to reception - He saw me and due to how I look, he immediately assumed I was part of the band he was picking up and invited me to check out the tour bus (The band turned out to be The Bravery)

So there you go - On the plus side Leeds Festival is only a week away now :D

How frustrating. I wish my job had those problems!

To add to my frustrations I just found out that The Transplants have pulled out of Leeds Festival due to illness :(

Warra bummer!

is it the transplants or just transplants?

Good point...

Actually I'm surprised I didn't pick up on that myself - I always use the preview option when I post

Although their website is TheTransplants.com

I'll edit the post now - So with the Single quote rule it could start to get confusing?

OK - I won't edit it - It doesn't give me an option to do so

A quick update for yous

The nearest hotel they could sort me was in Holland! - Then I had a message that there had been a late cancellation at my original hotel and I was in

I went to the festival on Thursday night - I'll do a seperate thread about that in Music Discussion

Now I want to be in a band again - but for all the wrong reasons! - Because

Friday morning I left the hotel to head to Brussels airport - I asked the hotel to order me a taxi for the train station and then waited outside for it

A minibus pulled in with a sign in the front window saying RUNNER - I'd seen this minibus before & thought it was for transporting performers and staff to and from the festival

The driver jumped out and asked me if I was going to the train station - When I said yes he grabbed my case and put it on the bus then said jump in

As we are driving off he asked if my name was Mr Whatever - I said no and told him my name - He seemed a bit confused and asked if I was from the festival - Not cottoning on to what he meant (and thinking that he'd seen my festival wristband) I said yeah - I was there yesterday

Just as we arrived at the train station his mobile rang and he had a conversation in Dutch - Although I didn't understand it I realised that he was being told that he'd picked up the wrong person - He asked me my name again and repeated it to the person on the phone

At the station I picked up my case and waited for him to tell me how much I owed him - Instead he offered me his hand to shake and said Have a safe journey and thanks for coming - Another freeby just because of how I look!

I then found out that Belgium trains are rubbish and the next train wouldn't get me to the airport on time for checkin - So I got a cab - A cool 125 Euros! (£85)

Then at the airport I realise that my British Airways flight home is business class - Which means I get to use the BA Executive lounge

Walking into the lounge looking the way I do really amused me because there's 3 or 4 Mr.Suits in there who all stare at me in disgust - I can tell they are all thinking How the hell do you get in here you filthy bástard

Unlimited free drinks in the lounge - A bit of a písser that I had to drive when I reached Brum - else I'd have had a field day :P
