A firm fans' favourite whilst at City, the Canadian attacker lacked nothing in the way of passion, typically giving 100 per cent in every match he played in. Born in Scotland, Hume qualified to play for Canada and represented them at junior and senior level. He made his name with Tranmere Rovers and got his crack at a higher level when City signed him on transfer deadline day at the end of August in 2005.

Hume could play out wide on the wing or up front, and had a turn of pace that could bamboozle any defender, playing at an intense level throughout each game, never giving the defender a minute's rest. He was Craig Levein's most expensive signing in his first year as manager of City and impressed to pen a new three-year deal with the club in 2007.

Despite his best efforts, Hume saw Leicester relegated in the 2007-08 season. He won the goal of the season award, for his strike at the start of the season against Watford, but it proved little consolation. Hume delighted the City fans by saying he would stay at the club despite their relegation but still moved on to Barnsley for £1.2 million a few weeks later. Still, he left highly regarded by most City fans.
