QUORN will be hoping for a big crowd on Tuesday night when they host Leicester City in the Westerby Challenge Cup Final on Tuesday. The fixture is their reward for winning the Westerby County Cup having beaten Hinckley United 5-4 in May’s thriller of a final. The Reds will be hopeful of attracting a decent number of supporters to the 7.30pm kick off, not least because there could be a chance to get one of the first sights of The Foxes’ new manager - if they’ve appointed one by then. Last year Leicester beat Loughborough Dynamo 2-1 in the same fixture at The NSG with young starlet and now first team player Jeffrey Schlupp winning the game with a screamer. The game brings Quorn player manager Lawrie Dudfield up against his old club. “Everyone’s looking forward to it,” he said. “It’s a nice break from the normal league fixtures. “Hopefully we can get a good crowd down there and I’m sure it will be nice to see a few old faces.” Before the Leicester game however Quorn face the more important prospect of playing third placed Stamford at home in the league tomorrow (Saturday). Quorn were in action on Tuesday night in a hastily arranged Evo-Stik Division One South game against Belper which they lost 2-1. After falling behind to an early Jonathan Froggatt goal, Kris Nurse levelled matters for Quorn after half an hour. However Andrew Rushbury’s goal just two minutes before the break provided the deciding factor. “It was a disappointing result but I guess that shows how far we’ve come in recent weeks,” Dudfield continued. “We’ve a tough run of games at the moment but as we’ve shown with the win over Ilkeston the other week, any team can defeat anyone else. “With the squad I have I’m fairly confident of grinding out a win against Stamford. “The big thing for me when I joined was getting off the bottom of the league as you can get stuck there. “We’ve done that now but the teams around us are continuing to pick up points so we need to keep pushing to make sure we don’t get dragged back down there.

lcfc_sam_p Posted 8 November 2011 Posted 8 November 2011 Drew 1-1 after 90 mins. Won 3-2 on pens. Bruno captained the side. Moussa and moreno also played. Banton looked good but has a bit of an attitude it seems to me.
GianEmmo Zola Posted 9 November 2011 Posted 9 November 2011 Yes him and peake took charge. Keepers - Adam smith started in goal very vocal. Didnt have that much too do. Replaced at half time by an american called lane. He was good too had a bit more to do. Saved penalties in the shootout. Seems ok. Defence - Sesay started at right back played a full game. Steady. Good pace. Left back Berner. Experienced pro. Did the simple ball well. Good pro. Skippered the side. He was replaced by a very young lad called fox. Got forward well. Centre half pairing of taft and moreno. Taft a very towering no nonsence defender. Moreno was more the ball playing centre half. To be fair to moreno when they moved him into midfield he looked different class. Midfield - Wingers were jason banton and edwin gyasi. Both rapid. Just the final ball let both players down. But they both caused a lot of trouble. Banton was replaced in the second half by doodoo. Didnt really get in the game, until he moved up top. Frank moussa and joey jones were the midfield pair. Jones sat, and played well. Always wanted the ball, moussa was the attacking midfielder, good on the ball. Looked to shoot often, but dragged a couple of shots wide. Had one fine effort that the quorn keeper made a fine save. Attackers - Caolon Lavery and Sam wilson. Both players worked very hard. Lavery good on the ball. And took his goal well. Wilson reminded me of a young mackail smith. He worked his socks off. But was caught off side a fair bit. But still young and learning. Overall a good game but should of converted alot of chances that were created.

Overall a good game but should of converted alot of chances that were created. Thanks for putting names to the faces. I thought Moreno was at fault for their goal when he completely mis-judged the flight of the ball and allowed their guy to run clear, Taft also messed up when he hesitated passing the ball by which time the potential receiver had decided he wasn't going to pass to him and turned away allowing a Quorn player to nip in and intercept Taft's delayed pass which created a good opportunity for Quorn.. I thought Sam Wilson was the more intelligent of the two strikers making some excellent runs into and across the box but like for King we don't seem to be developing players to spot these runs. Lavery reminded me of a poorer version of Billy Kee who incidentally was there watching the game.
