if he wins the league this season, and finishes 10th in the championship the following season, is that failure?
With the money we’ve been spending? Absolutely it is.

C'mon, do you really think Scott parker would come to us?
I can guarantee you the names listed you wouldn't get a good reaction either from the fans base on here. I am not over the moon with the appointment, but I don't think its as bad as some people are making out.
He is young, has a massive point to prove after his short spell at Rangers (hopefully he has learnt a fair bit) he has clear identity, wants an "all in" attitude or you won't play - we have let standards slip massively over the last two years since Maresca, he will hopefully bring this culture back. He is clearly a good man manager, would get the youth playing and on side also.
I might be wrong, but in typical Foxestalk fashion, there might be a few people with egg on their face come the end of the season
I absolutely want egg on my face. But it wont be until the end of the 27/28 season if Russell gets us to the Premier League.
Anything that happens this season doesnt count, winning the league is the bare minimum.

Listened to WYS with Mike Stowell on it and find the comments about Tom Cleverley interesting. How he went for a possession heavy approach and it was on course to take them down for a second season running. He switched things up around December and they ended up missing the play-offs due to a last minute goal. Interestingly their strikers form massively improved, Aribim Pepple scored 15 times after Christmas, Lorent Tolaj scored more consistently throughout the season but did get more goals per game in the second half of the season as well as he had a run out injured.
Doesn't bode particularly well IMO. Now a lot depends on the recruitment but I think we've really got to get it right for this to work. If we go to Plymouth early season, given Martin's generally slow starts I expect us to be beaten quite heavily.
How many times in the past 4-5 years have we heard ‘they’ve got to get recruitment right’

We are where we are, are you going to spend the next season moaning constantly about it?
Certain sections of the fanbase will criticise the ownership whatever happens.
Absolutely i am because with the resources we have, we shouldnt be where we are and its unforgivable.
A few wins against tinpot teams isnt going to change that.

If it was too happen why wouldn't you just enjoy the experience?
I'm hoping that those who actually go will be a lot more positive and get behind the team. At least until it's proven that he hasn't changed his ways and we're giving away stupid goals all the time.
Because we shouldnt be where we are and certain sections of the fanbase use winning games as an excuse to silence any criticism of the ownership.

Sorry but anything other than promotion this season is a continuation of the decline.
Regardless of the state of the squad currently, promotion from this division is absolutely realistic and definitely a necessity.
I’m going to absolutely hate being on here if we are romping the league and people are lauding Vestergaard as a world beater again and are being positive about the owners.

Again I would just like to remind people that for the past 18 months Winks agent has been working tirelessly to get him away for the club and no one wants him.
We are stuck with him until his contract ends.

I want to be early in this thread. Unless he manages back to back promotions and a top 10 Prem finish in his 3 years here he’s not the man.

There are no positives. We will play the same brand of passive football with players who dont care and are not fit and we will be out ran by every team in the League.
Can’t wait until Top catches some clips of a more recent Tournament and stops obsessing over 2008 Barcelona.

We knew this was coming. Will we survive it? Probably not, we would have in the Championship but not League One. He will be sacked by Christmas when we are in a relegation battle we will not likely escape.
The club is doomed to make the same mistakes over and over and over and over.

Completely differening opinions. FoxesTalk in a nutshell.
I'm hoping @Sol thewall Bamba is correct but I'm leaning towards @Dames.
I’d love to be wrong but the fans have had barely any influence for as long as i can remember, its just more noticeable now because things are awful.

Trouble is they will be looking at that thinking. We wanted to appoint him last summer you complained look what happened.
It only didnt happen last summer because Martin went for the Rangers job because he viewed it as a bigger job. Make no mistake fan power played 0 part in that.

This idea that we should “get him out of the way” as he is inevitable at some point is slightly flawed due to the fact we have an absolutely critical squad and culture rebuild happening this summer, and we are going to let Russell Martin take it on.
When it fails, and it will, we are left with the same problems we’ve had for years - incompatible ‘technical’ players that don’t really want to be here. No leaders, no fighters and a disjointed squad. Rinse and repeat.
It will do damage that lasts years.
I was desperate for something to get behind next season. Some semblance of a fresh start and new direction. I just hope the fact Percy says he hasn’t accepted it yet is because this is leak is designed to test the water. It’s happened before.
It is inevitable because the clowns running the club have been obsessed with the man for quite some time.
Everyone here can see whats going to happen and we just at this point need it to happen. Its very obvious lessons have not and will never be learned so things need to get worse before they get better.

Not a fan of this appointment as I really wanted us to move in a different direction, move away from this style of play and bring in some fresh ideas. Martin is very much more of the same. I think it just goes to prove that despite back to back relegations and 3 in the last 4, plus the hiring of McCarron, it’s still very much Aiyawatt and Rudkin calling the shots and their obsession with this slow, turgid style is not dwindling.
This is the last roll of the dice, when it fails we will finally be free but the cost has been heavy.
As a club we just need to get it out the way with.

If you're an agent you're trying to get him a move asap so you can make some money.
His agent has been grafting to get him
away for 2 years and absolutely nothing has happened. We wont be getting rid of the bloke.

I cant believe we still dont have a manager yet. Same mistakes happening again, we really could end up in League Two at this rate.

The away end at Bournemouth 2025 saved us from Russell Martin last time around but we don't get the chance this time. It's just inevitable get it over with.
I’ve been saying this for ages. We just need to get Russell Martin over and done with. Its the last step before we can actually begin recovery as a club.

Its going to be Martin and it is in fact going to get worse.
Will be interesting to see what happens when we are bottom half in November and the club cant afford to sack him because they’ve given him a stupid contract.

Rock bottom will be when we rack up 3 wins in a row at the start of next season and 90% of the fan base start worshipping KP again and calling anyone still questioning the ownership miserable.

Do people on here still defend this man? I remember taking pelters for years for daring to suggest hes a big problem at the club.
-
Nothing will change. We will sign mercenaries on huge contracts in the summer and slide even further into oblivion.
-
They will lock the first few games behind membership again btw.
