  1. I thought that once you had made a bet the bookies had to pay out if wins.

A mate of mine won £153 on a £100 bet on William Hill on the Monza F1 race. But they didn't credit him the win, they emailed him saying the bet was void and refunded the £100.

Granted he was taking advantage of a cock up, but surely that is the bookies fault for the mistake?

For a bit of background, he had £17 on both Ferrari's to be on the podium at 8/1. And then £83 on Ferrari to score under 42.5 points at 17/20.

So for £100 combined he had 2 bets and one of have had to win £153. If one didn't, then other one would.

  2. well I went about 6/7 years ago, it was dear then, but it depends on what you're after. I stayed in a hotel pretty central (about 10/15 mins from the train station), and went out to eat of the beaten track, and ate well. I walked everywhere, Rome isn't that big really, and saw the sites, and avoided the places with giant queues, and essentially (imo - wastes of time - ie. Coliseum) saw the things that were out in the open and free. There were a few free museums, and when we went it was baking hot.

    Seriously?

I rate walking around the Coliseum as one of the best moments of my life.

Edit: To avoid sounding pathetic, I was 16 at the time, and I have always been fascinated with the Romans ;)

  3. As somebody completly inexperienced with betting, where online do you find the accys where you have a list of fixtures and you pick the winner from every game?

I've been using betfred and I can only see betting for single matches, or things like both teams to score.

  4. I'm so glad that it's been pointed out how good value the Queen and the rest of the Royal family give us. I will try and remember that thw next time I do my shopping in Poundland and Primark. :)

Are you implying that without the Royal Family, you would be able to shop in more upmarket stores?

And don't knock Primark, about 60% of my wardrobe is from there

  5. Why do lollypop ladies 'work' at pedestrian lights? They wait with the children when the kids press the button, then walk out with them into the road when both lanes ot traffic have stopped anyway.

What a waste waste of time and money.

They can be useful on busy roads without pedestrian lights or zebra crossings but I never see them where they are actually needed!
