Some may have noticed that practically every f****g post I make has to be subsequently edited (for typos). It's infuriating. I'm similarly inept at texting.
EDIT: For typos.

As this is a motorbike thread, perhaps someone could explain to me why a fella at the end of our street starts his bike around 5 in the morning and leaves it running for up to 10 minutes before riding off.
I assume its because he's had to get up early and wants everyone else to be awake too.
The bikes themselves may be brilliant but there are some selfish sods around.
Warming it up. Inconsiderate? yes, wilful? - unlikely. Some motorcycles can be very finicky when the engine is cold. Plus, the oil is thicker and doesn't lubricate the internal components as effectively, which can lead to increased wear and tear on the engine parts if you pull off immediately. Warming up allows the oil to reach its optimal operating temperature and viscosity to allow proper lubrication throughout the engine. I'd have polite words.
My previous motorcycle, prior to purchasing a bench ECU tune for £480 was practically unridable on the initial open loop ignition due to an appalling stock fuelling to meet Euro 5 regulations. Nonetheless, I wouldn't have dreamt of starting it up and running it in my close for the five minutes that it required to behave, given that when on campus, I leave for work at 6.00am. Largely because the straight through exhaust registered 110dB at idle, I used to have to push it out of the vicinity before I fired it up...
This one's far more genteel in comparison. (It's still rasping though).

I fully concede that I am biased in terms of Joe Heyes, (I've known his Dad since I was five), but the lad has an innate ability to read play and reposition. Clearly the pivotal points today were Fin Smith's superb long range penalty kick and Russell's missed conversion, but Borthwick appreciates the fresh muscle and impact that Joe offers as a replacement and I think that has been a key part of these last two marginal victories. When you look at the the phase that resulted in Daly's try in the last few seconds versus France, Joe was massive in the rolling maul that initiated it. Understandably he's going to be playing second fiddle to Will Stuart for a while, but I what a talent to have in reserve. There are similarly a lot of promising upcoming club players being nurtured and developed at Pennyhill Park - it augers well.

How does Van Der merwe class as being Scottish, having been born and raised in SA?
All I've found is he got residency after living there for 3 years
Yes. Residency - five consecutive years I thought, not three. Also you must have registration with a rugby national body or club, for the same period.

Scot;and's handling is impeccable. The speed that they move the ball out to the wide channels is a complete nightmare for England's defence....again!

White runs in yet another try against England. Sensational play,

He would have lost the dressing room within weeks, the results would have been terrible and he’d have been sacked. It’s a different world now: player power has eclipsed manager power. No way our current squad would accept being told to run up and down sand hills.
You have to laugh at one of Lineker's recollections involving a midweek reserve game. He stormed into the changing room at half time picked him up by the scruff of the neck and pinned him against the wall snarling, "you lazy, wee English s*****." And that was at 2-1 up having scored both the goals!

Therefore what does peace deal look like?
If your name is Vladimir Putin, basically, Russia must be allowed to keep all the land it occupies, in addition to Ukraine ceding all of the provinces that the Kremlin lays claim to but does not currently control. Ukraine must officially end its plans to join NATO.

It's rather remarkable how so many people have managed to manipulate their denial of a violent insurrection attempt.
And talking of which, the other renowned far right (ex) presidential freak (although there are depressingly many to choose from), Jair Bolsonaro is facing charges for an alleged coup plot and incitement amongst his supporters to riot in order to seize back power in Brazil after losing the election. I wonder where on Earth he got that idea from?

Also think it's unlikely, but now the US is simply playing lip service to it's NATO obligations, them making a dart at the Suwalki gap during Trump's presidency doesn't seem too far fetched.
I brought this precise point up in early in the Ukraine thread but more in terms of the vulnerability of the Baltic States if it was well defended by Russian forces. However, When Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine three years ago, it sent shockwaves through neighbouring countries. The biggest war on the European continent since the end of the Second World War caused a complete re-evaluation of previous assumptions and strategies - particularly in Scandinavia and Sweden and Finland joining as member nations which was a massive own goal for the Kremlin. The accession of Finland to NATO also doubled the length of the alliance’s border with Russia. This has in the Kremlin’s own words forced Russia to take counter-measures to ensure its own security, tactically and strategically. I would suggest that increased exposure to a NATO member reduces the chances of any Russian attack on other NATO members bordering the Suwałki Gap which although sandwiched by Belarus and Kaliningrad, has nonetheless now lost its tactical significance.

British troops in Ukraine then! Thank god.
Especially when you hear Zelenskyy say that Russia is staging 150,000 troops in Belarus ready to attack Poland next year. We need to support Ukraine to stop them. Especially as the Mango Mussolini doesn’t think Russia wants to start a war with NATO. Idiot.
Russia is not going to "attack Poland next year".

My Dad has warned me about the peaty taste of Laphroaig but we’re drinking it tonight anyway
I think he’s trying to manage my expectations but if I don’t like it either, he’ll just use it as an expensive mixer with ginger ale.
Sounds a bit marmite but hope I love it.
I’ll add Islay Mist to the list!!

Perfect way to round off a Sunday out in the fields with the dog. Decent stout followed by a Laphroaig 10...

I know not everyone agrees with his contributions to this forum but this thread title is a tad harsh.

What astonishes me is not only the fact that people bought the replica shirt but even inadvertently endorsing and displaying this shit by wearing it is reprehensible.

Please take this as a compliment, but I always imagined that you were, how should I put it? - a more senior contributor to this forum - maybe on the cusp of retirement age. That you are rejoining CAMRA for a second time perhaps supports that assumption?

Glad it didn't matter in the end.
Superb game.
I'd say, superbly entertaining game, but fraught with errors to the point of being comedic at one point. However when both sides made it count it was exquisite and one of the best finishes I can recall in the nations for years. France could have killed it in the first half, but then Smith uncharacteristically cost us 5 points. This is precisely what some of these players need for their confidence. What a scalp!

Think England should be happy to be going in all square at half time.
All to play for especially with the conditions generating mistakes.
Very uncharacteristic handling errors form Pernaud and Dupont. That deft kick for the try though. Ramos looks particularly ominous.
England need to make their replacements count. I thought that there wasn't enough impact last week against Ireland.

Also the long cables to Morocco is a clever idea as they can provide 23 hours or renewable energy per day consistently due to their more predictable weather.
Until a Russian spy ship such as the Yantar operated by the Minoborony (in the guise of a supposed oceanic research vessel) coordinates their severance that is.

I don't have a BBC account. What was the gist?
I'd recommend one. Takes a minute or two to set up.
'Mark Steele's in Town' toured the Bushmills distillery in Coleraine and someone asked about putting ice in single malt whisky.
