It hadn't occurred to me that it was cold enough for the heating thermostat to kick in, it has and I'm not even there. As it's June I didn't think to put holiday mode on. Thanks to you resurrecting this thread, holiday mode is on. Cheers.

Just like to clear up I mean cooking a Tomatoe and eating it as a Tomatoe. I don’t have any problem with cooking down tomatoes for sauce bases and what not.

I'm with Sami, OK cooked in a sauce or fresh. On a fry up, absolutely not for me.

The drivers that seem to think their car is the size of a tank and hesitate and wait whilst passing an obstacle on their side of the road when there's a gap that you could "drive a tank" through and they're driving a Honda Jazz or Hyundai i10.
In bold, I encounter this on a regular basis, particularly on country lanes. The arrogance, stupidity, lack of anticipation and ignorance infuriates me, to the point where I'm going have to put an angry face emoji at the end of this post.

I had the opposite on Thursday, bloke in a large car/suv but obviously thought he was in an i10. Parked cars all along one side, intermittent the other side. He pulls out of a gap after giving way for the car in front of me. Unfortunately, his car was too large to fit between mine and the parked one into the next gap. Due to cars behind me and now him, no one can go anywhere.

Is that for Bonfire Night? Perhaps I´ll drive over for a look.
I see Sence Valley Forest Park and Kelham Bridge Nature Reserve are near Heather and Ibstock. Anyone ever been?
I used to go to Scence Valley reasonably often, they've done a good job creating a pretty nature area. I've not been for a couple of years but assume it's still nice.

The use (even on British web sites) of the American date system: month-day-year
Even year-month-day would be more logical
That´s it. I´m officially out of things to say. When do the fixtures come out?
Absolutely this. I recently had to fill in many forms whilst in the USA, needless to say my date boxes were all over the place. Why can't they just use the normal, proper format!

Christ, how!? Do you work/need to book leave? I booked Thailand 1.5 months in advance and then was kicking myself for being convinced into booking it early after getting caught in the Iran war on the way back. Do you mean Perth in Nov 2028??
1.5 months ahead isn't in advance that's last minute for me
We've booked Japan and Korea for June '27 and South America for January '28 already!
I work for myself and the OH is retired so, leave isn't an issue for us. If you've an employer with strict leave rules, I can see how it would be more challenging.

I think we are going to go to Canada June 2026.
Not started planning or booking anything yet. I don't like getting ahead of myself.
You know it's June 2026 now, right? You'd best start packing!
One thing to bear in mind with any cruises to Antarctica @FoxesDebit's such a short season, you do need to book early. Especially, if you like to choose a specifc good cabin. The tour package we've booked only had space for 12 more people and the ship had 2 cabins left, at the grade we've booked.
Although, if you're happy to arrange your own flights and just do an Antarctica sailing it's not as bad as HAL, Princess and Celebrity all have itineraries. But, not all go to the Antarctica fully. We're going with Azamara and have 3 Antarctica days.
I wanted to do a more comprehensive tour to include Machu Picchu, Rio etc, and didn't fancy arranging all that myself for South America so, booked the land/cruise package with the same people that we used for China and India last year.
If you are thinking a of the full expedition cruise, I'd recommend sitting down before looking at the prices

Are you going there on a cruise? You're very much a forward planner like me
Our main holidays for 2027 are booked and I'm now planning 2028, so far looking at a Vietnam tour followed by the beach in Phu Quoc in March/April and then Perth in Australia in November.
After that our only continent to visit would be Antarctica so I'm interested in your plan
Land and cruise for this one. We're doing a week on land in Peru, board the ship in Valparaiso, Chile sail to the Chilean Fjords, Argentina, Antarctica, Falklands, Uruguay and disembark in Buenos Aries. Fly to Iguazu, then on to Rio.
We're not doing an expedition cruise so, no hiking up glaciers or kayaking around icebergs. Although, we are on a small ship, circa 550 passengers so, we get to get nice a close to the scenery.

I would have thought that the measure of capacity to understand actions and consequences under the Mental Capacity Act would have some bearing on the decision.
Apparently not, he's still President of the USA.... oh, you didn't mean Donny...

I saw a notice yesterday they were due over NW Leics at 18:20, I thought it said tomorrow so, was a bit gutted we missed them when I saw a few comments about them on SM. Glad to hear it's tomorrow as well.

Has anyone done the p and o Norwegian cruise? I’ve never done a cruise or even thought it would be good but am now considering it
I've been on lots of cruises, including the Norwegian Fjords, one of my favourite cruises. Not sailed with P&O, though.

Why is this weather too hot In the UK but in another country it’s class.
I don't mind when I'm abroad and it's this hot, main because I'm on holiday, by a pool, with a cold beer. Not actually having to do stuff.

Contactless terminals asking me for a donation amount. Firstly as a miser, no. Secondly, to which charity, Visa Xmas party? Doesn’t even say.
At least that's usually only £1. Much worse when you're in the US and the terminal suggests an 18 or 20% tip. No thanks.

Does anyone make their own compost? (I swear I'm turning into my old man
)
The amount of grass cuttings we're producing won't all fit into the garden waste bin thats collected every 2 weks and I cba to take them to the tip.
I'm also using a shed load of compost as I'm renevating and overseeding my lawn so figured it might make sense to make my own.
Any words of wisdom from seasoned composters on here?
Tried and failed miserably.

Amazon leaving parcels on your door stop.
I understand why they do this but it's like paying for minimal delivery effort for something that is 50/50 as to whether it's stolen or not.
Is there a default delivery message to "tap the door and leave my parcel outside"?
You can update delivery preferences in your account. They don't take any notice. I have a safe place listed in mine, stuff still gets left on the doorstep. I complain to the regularly about it.

Does anyone use esims When they go on holidays? Am asking only cos am going morocco for the first time and normally I just leave my phone at home and not worry about it but the Mrs wants us to get esims. So anyways wanted to what people thoughts and whats would be the best one? For 7 day holiday. Also how does the roaming thingy me bob work? Thanks
Yes, I've used an Airalo one a couple of times. Basically, you install it before you travel and then in your phone settings, once you arrive you tell your phone to use the esim for data. There's instructions here.
https://www.airalo.com/blog/why-airalo-what-our-users-are-saying-about-us
I've bought the set amount on data ones but other companies do unlimited ones, which are more expensive.
We went to Senegal in February, the esim was expensive so we bought a local sim card at the airport. You could always do that.

Oh no, fingers crossed they recover well and you can carry on with your trip! Keep us updated and good luck
Thanks. Discharged from hospital today. Just need to get home now. Hopefully Air Canada are sorting our flights for Saturday now.
ETA we're booked to fly Seattle/Toronto and then London on Saturday
Assuming no further medical issues! I do have to say the US ER and then general hospital were very, very efficient. I dread to think of the treatment costs though.

We definitely have the cruising bug. We still have 8 months to go until our Asia cruise and we've just booked for winter 2027. Leaving from the Dominican to visit the ABC islands, the US and British Virgin islands, and Puerto Rico. @FoyleFox any must see or avoid places? I'm guessing you've stopped in at least some of these ports, if not all
One of our first cruises, way back, went to Dominican, Puerto Rico, US and BVI. Unfortunately, I can't really recall what we did. I know we loved Puerto Rico. We did a coffee tour and walked the walls. I think we're going to one of the ABC on our November trip.
We're currently away so, I can't check back on the itinerary plans. We were meant to be in Toronto yesterday and at Niagra Falls today, unfortunately, we're in a Seattle hospital, the OH has been unwell. Praying the travel insurance is robust
