A lot is the sudden change and it is perspective, especially this year. I always find the first part of autumn feels really cold, in January, if it's 14c we'll not think it's cold. It's just now, it's quite a drop in temperature.

Exactly the situation we were in. We've come off ours early and gone onto a new fix. I've no idea if it's scaremongering or realistic that it'll be 10 or 12p/kw in Jan but we've taken the gamble it will. If its not and it's actually 6p/kw we can pay to exit.

We've not risked it and signed up for the 8p fixed rate. Hopefully won't use that much before the old one ended. Or, can you lend me a BBQ

I was. If the rate doubled from my current F/R, or more to 10 or 12p/kw, the £650/£680 per annum increases by £650/£680 or more. I'm not using more gas, just paying twice the current price.... if the predicted rates do go to 10 or 12p.

I don't pay that a year either at the moment, we're only a medium use household, but if the prices increase as it's being predicted, it could rise by that amount. That's the issue. Going to 8p/kw increases it by £300 ish. It was 10p/kw a couple of years ago and the prediction is higher. If people are in a position to absorb a £500+ increase, that's great but many people aren't.

The gas bill increasing by £700 / £1000 or more per year is quite difficult to be relaxed about.

In a heating/gas dilemma. On an Octopus F/R for the gas at £.0509p which ends at the end of December. Everything I'm reading says the cost is going to escalate significantly in Jan. I've the option of moving to a new F/R now, either £0.0869p or £0.0805p. 12mth or 18mth F/R. If I wait until Dec the F/R might be £0.10p or worse. Is it scaremongering that it'll be really high? It would be 11 weeks at the new higher rate, I'm thinking we'll not use much for the next few, looking at the weather forecast (gas does HW & CH only) and I'm away for 4 weeks mid Nov to mid Dec. It might be worth it. Anyone else deliberating over energy prices/products or have thoughts.

People obviously have more money than sense. They can naff off, if they thought they'd get £50 off me for doing nothing wrong, they were wrong.

Last week while away in Wales, I got a parking ticket for "not parked correctly within the markings of bay or space". As the car was parked within the 3 white lines visible, the other side being a cliff, I appealed. The challenge was accepted. However, they noted that "there is another bay making line, however it is completely faded". So, you've given out a penalty for not parking within an invisible line? Surely the parking warden could also not see the line and used common sense? I assume that too much to ask?

I see others have covered this. My plug in was a few years back now, we didn't have mobile coverage so, the plug in phone was an essential for any communication or in an emergency.

We regularly had power outages in the winter when we lived in Northern Ireland, which could be quite long. When we had an Aga we were sorted for cooking and hot drinks, the first time after we got rid of it we realised how much another fuel type was useful. We invested in a gas camping stove. It was always quite normal to keep a selection of emergency items, long life milk, soup etc. A phone that plugged in. It's something we've not done since moving back but I might reinstate the emergency section of the cupboard.

Memory seats are an essential if your car sharing. Can't be doing with faffing about to change it every time you get in. And, these. I've discovered the joy of cooling seats this summer ☀️

My shift meant that my lunch was mid afternoon, I went into Currys at Fosse Park and watched the TV, to see if I could get eveyone more information, it was just as the tower collapsed. The sense of disbelief was indescribable. I have a friend from NYC who was there that day, and can barely describe the ordeal, even now.

Had some relatives visit today, who haven't been since we finished the renovations. Lots of pleasant, positive comments on the kitchen, lounge, living room and dining room, which we used or were all open and visible. As they were leaving and walking down the hall of the bungalow, decided on opening all the other doors, which are obviously the bedrooms, to have a look at those. Isn't that a bit rude? Looking into bedrooms uninvited seems a bit of an invasion of privacy to me. Is it just me?

I bought my EV used, it was from a dealership, though. I had far more issues with my last ICE car, the dealership (under warranty) suggested at one point it was the DPF... in my petrol car!
