Why ? = Rudkin our so called Director of Football whose entire job is maximising performance and has failed in every aspect over the last 2 seasons.

This topic should be titled “Relegations’ as presently the men’s, women’s and under 21’s all bottom !

Yesterday Forest sacked their DOF after 6 months because he was crap - accountability in action! Unfortunately Rudkin occupies an old fashioned 'Grace and Favour' position at Leicester of the type that existed for football executives back in the 1970's. Position for life, enjoy the fat cigars and whiskey, no questions asked! There is no accountability at City probably because the CEO Rudkin reports too should also be under scrutiny for her performance in allowing both a collapse in the financial structure and poor management below to thrive, seemingly unchallenged. The 'pandemic" is no excuse for the financial mess at City, we only have to look at similar/lesser size clubs such as Brighton, Palace, Brentford etc to see how they have managed.

A new manager but is it also time to appoint a new Director of Football? As a senior manager Jon Rudkin with be used to the concept of accountability and appraisals so lets look at his performance over the last year:-
Team(s) performance/standings in the League - Men and Women 2nd bottom, Under 21's bottom - FAIL
Recruitment Record (signings and loan signings) dreadful - FAIL
Management of competent recruitment team - initial appointment of Lee Congerton? months securing a replacement - FAIL
Overseeing medical side (condition coaches, analysts and medical team) worst record for player absence - FAIL
Financial management (securing productive players on the right contracts which do not all terminate at the same times nor place the club in a financial mess) - MAJOR FAIL
Overseeing the Mens team manager/coaching staff, ensuring he has sufficient resources, making timely decisions and ensuring seamless transfer as required - MAJOR FAIL
Securing own life style - another year (now 24th?) in well paid position, great perks and no accountability (should see me nicely into an early retirement and fat pension)- TREMENDOUS SUCCESS

The perfect storm - poor management - inability to motivate, make appropriate substitutions, poor tactics, Poor season - Barnes, Catagne, Vardy, Ndidi, Bad signings - Tete, Bertrand, Vestergaard, Daka, Soumare. False promise - Thomas, Ward, DH. Falling out - Soyuncu, Schmeichel. Injuries- Evans, Ricardo and almost everyone = relegation
-
Too many players injured and out for weeks failing to mind the step down from the Jacuzzi!
-
With Vardy just about able to go through the motions and Daka well out of his depth everything rests on Nacho. Unlike others in the side he does not hide but when he has a bad game, it really really matters.

Are there three teams worse than City - Unfortunately the answer is no. Evidence? Southampton the bottom side doing the double! We can get revenge next season in the Championship.
-
I have always supported Brendan but was hugely disappointed before the match that Soumare was selected to start instead of Mendy. His performance did nothing to change my view that whatever he did in a one of game v West Ham was indeed the the very rare exception rather than the rule. Another of Congerton's poor signings.
-
In his first season he played with such promise, overlapping with Barnes to give City real threat on the left. Oh how such promise dissipated so quickly. He lacks in almost all areas of the game - inability to read the game, basic control, pass (unless unchallenged and backwards), tackle or run with the ball. I anticipate that at the end of his present over paid contract he will struggle to secure a contract within the top four divisions.

Thanks for all the great memories but you can no longer remember your lines so it’s time to leave the stage.

Ado lcfc have the worst professional football defence in Europe? And I do mean in all leagues men and women ?
-
Not his fault really always expected to be the under keeper- good for practice and the odd game. Otherwise earning a tidy living watching matches. Whilst most of the players don’t want to be on the pitch Ward along with Thomas do not deserve to be.
-
Ward is not premier league standard. Instead of making himself big like a former keeper he turned away. Admittedly may not have saved it but gave himself no chance..

Thomas was poor last season totally abject this
-
Last season he criticised the defence due to it's obvious inability to learn from set piece mistakes but when will Brendan hold his hand up to accept his obvious tactical failings. Taking off your strongest midfielder would have been acceptable if you replaced with another hard working midfield substitute to counter press and restrict Brentford space in front of our defence. Instead he brought on Daka!!! as an extra corner flag? What was clear to everyone was that Vardy was restricted by Brentford's defensive formation. To bring on a second Vardy type player albeit without his physical presence whilst sacrificing a hard working closing down defensive midfield position was never going to work. So why do it Brendan? I don't think Daka had a single touch of the ball for 10 minutes and after that the ball boy on that side was more influential!

They will need to strengthen their defence with some experienced PL defenders - Bertrand & Vestergaard?

Alternatively could play it at the end of the match? - perhaps not a good idea after all

We need this and results against Norwich/Watford to lift the fans and give some hope/ spark for next season.

City have been poor this season. Very few memorable performances and a huge amount of frustration when time and time again they concede from set pieces, fail to manage games or simply don,t turn up. Frankly any improvement from the boring pointless possession at the back Puell type performances we churn out week after week would be an improvement. I’m not so bothered whether we win any silverware just please oh please make me enjoy going to king Power Stadium again and restore some pride.

Some papers report City looking for 3 additional first team players. That won’t improve the team given the ineffective recruitment last summer, likely leavers and those previously first team players who have fallen back to just squad players this season such as Barnes plus those where the passage of time has blunted their talents through no fault or lack of ambition on their part- Schmeichel, Albrighton, Vardy. A more radical revision is required.

On the beach - where Tielemans has been all season

The morning after time for some measured reflection. Roma got their tactics spot on exposing City’s frailty whilst exploiting the ref with their true continental style of play (rolling around on the floor) As for City they carried on with the performances they have delivered for most of the season -slow possession based, lacking any drive or tactical awareness to breakdown dogged defences. 2 soft on target shots late on in a game so important as this is just abject.

Time for a change drop Tielemans who has offered little all season. It might be a swan song but give Choudhury a chance. He can’t offer anything less and at least gives a dam when on the pitch .

We could achieve something I don’t think any other team has achieved our men’s, women’s and under 21’s all relegated in the same season. now there’s a record that will take some beating!
