My next suggestion is that Leicestershire take Smith on loan for the sake of the test team. He could bat 3 and keep.
-
Ask Broad how much Leicestershire gave him and he'll tell you Oakham gave him a lot more. It's not a Leicestershire thing per se but county crickets role in producing Test cricket is overstated in my opinion.

I've never liked Darren Stevens tbf.

Bancroft as well. https://www.cricket.com.au/news/4482773/county-cricket-australia-openers-jake-weatherald-daniel-hughes-round-one-leicestershire-sussex-mcsweeney-bancroft-conway

I think what you're saying is completely fair but its not healthy to have internationals bailing out a lack of quality over here. Counties aren't short of money now, more needs to be done to incentivise local talent development. Weatherald will be taking a decent chunk of cash which could have been spent elsewhere for example. As I say that I do get the need the club has for short term progress as well.
-
Its not just one though is it - Harris, Mcsweeney and Weatherald all playing. Id limit it to certain nations and bring in some sort of draft personally. You could level things up vs the likes of the test ground counties. And id try and leverage it for some sort of access to the shield.

I'll say this again, as i'm not sure you understand this....she resigned. If she wanted money she'd still be here waiting for a payoff.
-
If Top had listened to her im fairly certain we wouldn't be in this mess. I agree that doesn't reflect well on her ability to get a message across but I think thats worth highlighting. There's only so many times you can point out the failings of the football department without being listened to. And FWIW I think she'd probably agree she made mistakes and stayed too long.

Seems like a good bloke tbf. Im not blaming him or Leicestershire.
-
Because I think the county game should serve the national team. To be clear I dont think Leicestershire have done anything wrong, its in their interest to do it. Australia dont let English players play. The Indians dont let their players play outside of the IPL. Just feels like another own goal from the ECB.
-
The one person which did resign in this whole mess is getting stick for not resigning sooner. Weird logic given the time frame we're talking about.
-
Irritates me we're playing Weatherald to be honest. It's not Leicestershire's fault but it is an issue for the ECB.

The real breakdown came post the first relegation season when Rudkin lied his way through the post season review. She lasted two years beyond with 6 months on notice. It's really not that long in the grand scheme of things. And she most definitely resigned rather than being pushed. And FWIW she still cares a lot for the club and watches every game. Which is more than can be said for Top.

It happened over three years ago, if there was a competent football director or some accountability we could have seen it through. See many other Premier league clubs who held onto a manager for too long and signed crap players - this sort of scenario happens at every club (Villa, Forest, Everton, Leeds). And some of what youve written isn't true, Rudkin said in 22/23 he'd make the club 100m in sales and then didn't hence why they'd lined up Colwill and Johnson.
-
People still can't bring themselves to blame Top and Rudkin - Rodgers, Whelan and Herlihy all blamed last night. Explains why the protests have never got off the ground. People can't bring themselves to turn against Top.
-
It is a very simplistic view, yep.
-
Any normal CEO actually works in a structure where the director of football reports into her. It wasn't a normal CEO role.
-
I think Vardy is to blame. He oustayed his welcome and was paid too much.
-
I can.... you can be cut out of decisions whilst also trying to reason with someone. Hard though when you're told to continually go through his secretary who ignores you but you'd live in hope of trying to fix it - particularly given youve been with the organisation over 16 years.
-
Well its definitely got better since her and Rodgers left so we should definitely blame them.
-
Loyalty to king power Trying to actually fix it Loyalty to her staff Bit simplistic to say cash, she's not short of it.
-
Yes its his fault we're getting relegated to league one 🤣🤣🤣
