Preston Away - Monday 29th April - Pre Match
Deepdale tonight replied to urban.spaceman's topic in Leicester City Forum
I'm sat here watching on Sky and the travelling fans are properly loud, as one might expect. Clearly a carnival atmosphere in the Bill Shankly Kop. Here's a picture from a Leicester fan in the Town End who's in my seat. -

I genuinely hope you win, you deserve the championship I think. Osmajic and Millar would be the two to look out for tonight, they could undo you if they're playing and on song. -

Only for Bl*ckpool fans. Nobody is going to be against Leicester fans tonight, I'll be shocked if you're not warmly received into the City. There's always the odd knob head but I doubt you'll find any tonight, unless you go looking for them. Enjoy your success and enjoy the great people from this City -

Near the ground is Moor Brook, very good selection of ales and outdoor area. Also across the road is Moor Park pub, limited ales but a good old fashioned boozer with plenty of characters, I personally love it. In town, The Orchard (small taps pub) and Black Horse a minutes walk away. Wetherspoons Greyfriars is ok too, huge boozer, massive selection of ales Market Street Chippy or Spud Brothers on flag market for food in town, or Tipsy Chef on Lancaster Road. At the ground, Potato Tram all the way and try some parched peas with lashings of vinegar. Moor Brook pizzas are the cats nuts too -

We're a very strange outfit. We've rolled over against some very poor teams, yet we've pulled off results against promotion outfits, I guess that's the championship though, and why it's great. I think our lot have checked out for the summer and some just look disinterested -

That's it mate, it's what footy is about and I couldn't be happier knowing that a Leicester fan and his lad are in my seats for the occasion. The season ticket price is worth it just for tonight -
It's Moor Brook, really good ale and grub. As always, it's raining in Preston at the moment, but there's a covered outdoor bit at the back of the Brook with pizza oven. His pizzas are really good. Moor Park across the road is less sophisticated ale and food wise but I like it, it's a proper Preston pub and good value with a decent Guinness. Whetherspoons (Greyfriars) is massive, and as you'd expect, good value with a heap of ales. I think you'll be very welcome everywhere, it's not so long ago that Leicester made top level football interesting again. Will always love Ranieri for doing that.

If anyone is peckish before the match, the Potato Tram at the ground (near the Tom Finney splash statue) serve up amazing spuds, and if you fancy a proper taste of Preston, the parched peas (add plenty of vinegar to them, the bottle is there where they serve). I can't vouch for the burger vans etc. but the potato tram has been in Preston for a very very long time, and the spuds are amazing, you won't get better grub for a fiver or so. You can sit and eat next to the Tom Finney statue, or on the wall near Gentry bar, which is to the right of the Potato Tram. If you're in town before the game, then Bruccianis is a great cafe (on Fishergate, not too far from Railway Station). Ohannes Burgers, which is also close to Railway Station on Fishergate (just before you get to Bruccianis) is a good burger place. There's a few bars just off from Fishergate (Hartleys is a good one) and if you walk up towards the Bus Station, there's plenty more. The Orchard is small. but with great selection of ales. Black Horse is pretty good. Market Street Chippy is generally good, I think its got new owners, but it was always a good chippy, and last time I went, it was OK. If you fancy spending a couple of quid more (its not very expensive, but its not cheap cheap) then try Plau on Friargate, its got great food and great booze. Moor Brook is an obvious one for away fans, great ale, great food, and a short walk to Deepdale.

Fair enough, I suppose, but then again nobody is going to reply and say they're badly behaved, so its a pointless question. Just turn up, you'll be fine, though its a small ish pub, there is a big outdoor area out the back, with plenty of benches etc. -

What did he quiz you about? You'll be fine in there, its good ale and good grub, and a short hop to Deepdale. I honestly think you lot will be welcome anywhere today/tonight. We checked out a month or so ago, we've nowt to play for, and its your night tonight. -
Also - Don't be afraid to ask (beg) outside. I am confident some North Enders would give up their tickets, it happened last year for the Sunderland game, when they needed something to make the play offs. I believe some friendships were forged between PNE and SAFC fans that day. I think a few of them ended up on the PNE Town End, and were looked after by the North End faithful. I would ask around when outside the ground, if you're desperate. Edited to add - maybe join PNEOnline and ask around there. I might have another spare, but I won't know until later on today.

Hi all North Ender here - Welcome to those who are visiting our City tonight, you'll be made to feel welcome. Regarding parking, there are a lot of options. You can park at Deepdale Shopping Park, and as far as I can tell, its safe enough (I've never parked there for anything other than a quick visit to the shop). There are car parks in town - Bus Station which closes at around midnight, and after 9pm ish has limited entrances open, but you can park there for a few quid). There's also Fishergate Shopping Centre (you pay on way out, using a terminal, and you type your reg in and it tells you how much), located next to the train station. If you decide to park in town, its maybe a 20-30 min walk to Deepdale, or a few minutes on the bus, or Uber. Around the ground, there are lots of back streets (look at map, around St Georges Road, both on the stadium side, and the Moor Park side) there are always spaces, though they fill up as you get closer to KO. Sainsburys near Deepdale has football parking for a few quid (cash at point of parking). If you drive into Sainsburys, before you hit the mini roundabout where the store is, the parking is on the left. Again, it fills up early ish, but I doubt North End will be in numbers tonight, its been too painful for us recently, we're still licking our wounds. Moor Park Avenue has parking (right next to Moor Park), but this fills up quicker than anywhere else. If you're here early and fancy a pint or two, park there, and have a drink in the Moor Brook (away fans welcome, and the landlord is from Leicester but has been adopted by the good people of Preston). Edited to add - If anybody is really concerned, or desperate, I can keep a few cars on my drive. I'm very close to Motorways, and Deepdale (basically half way between the two, in Fulwood). There are a few good pubs this end of town (Black Bull and Crafty Beggars are pretty good, and 2 mins from me). If you're getting here early, I would park in town and hit a few pubs in town, I think you'll be made very welcome. The Orchard at Preston Market has amazing ales, but its a tiny place. The Black Horse is a decent pub too, that's at the bottom of Orchard Street. Friargate has a few nice places, its quite studenty around that area. I quite like the Moor Park pub too, its very much a North End fan pub, but you'll be made to feel welcome, its across from the Moor Brook.

If anyone is worried about parking tonight, please drop me a message, I can either advise, or offer something on my driveway and give you a lift to the ground. I'm located near the M55/M6 and not too far from Deepdale. Edited to add - there is a lot of parking around Deepdale, particularly around the side streets on the Moor Park side between St Georges and St Thomas road. There's also parking in the town centre (Fishergate Centre Car Park, and Bus Station). There are plenty of buses to Deepdale from Bus Station, or its a 20 minute ish walk. If you took the North Road exit out of town, there are a few pubs on the way, then its a walk through Moor Park to get to Deepdale.- 340 replies

North End fan here - All the best to you guys tonight. I gave my season ticket to a Leicester fan who's based in Preston and I am confident there will be other North Enders who will do the same for any travelling fans without tickets. I know last year, Sunderland needed something from the last game, for a playoff place, and many North Enders gave up their seats. We have nothing to fight for tonight, but its a good night for all Leicester fans. All the best to you all, and I hope you enjoy your trip to our City. The Moor Brook is a good pub, and the landlord is from Leicester.- 340 replies
