  1. Not trying to shit on Verstappen at all but some people here have really fallen for the narrative that the Red Bull is a dog. He's won at a canter at places like Imola & Monza, yesterday also but some of that may be the drivers behind him keeping Norris away from him. They have a car that works brilliantly at some places and have also executed setups well at places that require low drag.

Neville making excuses for the abysmal Mbuemo missing from 4 yards, "it was coming in quickly".

It did though lol the ball just hit him, can hardly call it an attempt

Didn't hear any of them say anything negative about Haaland's miss though oddly. Even if he was trying to be smart and place it the opposite side to the defender running on, he still misses the target and for the supposed best striker in the world, it was honking.

  3. In his defence he will come back after a few months and probably receive the same treatment again, then the cycle continues. Been there done that, I get why you'd rather remove all trace of your account even though it's easy to create a new account again in time.

  4. Those leagues are poor additions except for Saudi (which doesn't tempt me but I can see the pull). To add those already mentioned, Azerbaijan and Georgia. Would love a Dinamo Tbilisi save. As niche as Latvia and Lithuania are, what's the point

Armenia beat the Republic of Ireland earlier. There was a time when the Irish were usually there or thereabouts in the qualifiers, but now they're miles off it. Quiet decline.

I read the BBC run a poll asking if this is the worst defeat in their history. I'm not an expert on Irish football history however this current team are rubbish, and I imagine they think Armenia are on par with San Marino/Liechtenstein etc. They're absolutely not and I imagine it's a fairly hostile place to go as well as being long distance, I'm not at all surprised they lost. Surprised Ireland were even 1/2 to win

You do want the best nations at a tournament. Brazil v Liechtenstein, England v Maldives and Argentina v St Vincent & The Grenadines would be a waste of time for all involved.

Yeah as much as we love an underdog, they have to have atleast earned it rather than getting lucky being placed in a group with other rubbish. It's not rigged at all in the current format. The 16 team Euros in the past was brilliant but the increase to 24 has allowed some newer countries to appear at the finals and not only did they qualify the correct way but they didn't embarrass themselves in the slightest (thinking Georgia and Albania)

Qualification is rigged to make sure the big times make it, this is why I'm not keen on seeding teams. I would love to see a random draw, like for example you could get group of death where say France, England, Spain, Germany, Netherlands and Belgium are drawn together. Then you could have really weak group like Andorra, Gilbratar, Northern Ireland, San Marino, Estonia and Luxembourg. Giving some of the weaker teams a chance... another idea i like is doing like a champions league format. Of course things like this won't happen due to money... they really on big nations at the tournaments with high profiled players and huge fan base.

Give them a chance of what... Embarrassment on the main stage?

    Its a shitshow.

Norris specifically asked to be pitted 2nd himself with some bs justification "to protect Oscar from Leclerc" (why would Norris care if his WDC rival got overtaken, especially given Mclaren don't have to maximise points with their 400 point lead in the constructors).

He wanted to gamble on a red flag or safety car (the latter was actually impossible cause Max had already covered the 14 seconds a SC pit stop would take).

This is now the 3rd or 4th instance this season where Mclaren have pulled "team orders" to make it "fair" that have directly benefited Norris. If I was Piastri I would honestly not have complied today, Verstappen said he wouldn't have either had it been him. This is a 6 point swing that the team decided to let go in favour of Norris. What's next - retire the car if Lando crashes to make it fair?

I don't think Verstappens opinion on whether to play the team game is worth much tbh. If he was in Piastri's shoes today and Red Bull didn't order them to switch back (like that'd ever happen) every single toy from Max's pram would be on the floor, no "HA's" to be seen.

Most teams would have done what McLaren chose to do today, more so when they are the only two in the title fight. The difference is most other teams wouldn't have the luxury of being able to simply swap them back without losing positions. The race was effectively over by the time they pitted, when it's out of the driver's hands I think them swapping cars is justified. It's not dissimilar to Hungary last year when again McLaren were trying to be too clever and that day Piastri was given preferential treatment in the middle of a Lando Vs Max title fight.

Just doesn't help with this "British bias" narrative created by Red Bull in years gone by which has now stretched to McLaren for no great reason. Imagine Piastri's engine going up in smoke last week instead, the bandwagon would have loved that one. If Piastri was in Norris' position today and they switched them back around, it'd be all "sensible decision" from the same people up in arms today.
