Any form of criticism based upon a "What if" suddenly loses all integrity. 

 

There have been many times this season when Pearson has fielded a team that the majority agrees with, e.g. Palace away. If anything, the last three games show just how fine the line is between success and failure. Liverpool away, Spurs at home and Burnley at home are also three examples of times when we've been on the opposite side of the line. I'm not saying that every match goes down to luck but it does play such a big part.

 

The difference between scoring in the 90th and conceding in the 90th may be really insignificant in terms of the performance but when we look back it's the difference between our team being magnificent and our team being hopeless. The margins are tiny and yet the opinions change so drastically, just look at the inconsistency of Pearson's "Stay or Go" ratings.

And I very much agree. My intention was not to be provocative, rather to encourage reflection.

 

Konch is in today, and as someone has remarked, well to be fair it's an enforced change. A few months ago PK was the expectation at L/B - It very much indicates how many things have changed both in perceptions and expectations in such a short space of time. 

 

This wasn't an anti Pearson thread...it is an acknowledgement of his attempts to turn this around. A situation that we should never have been in.

This forum was full of pessimism, worry and doubt going into today's game. The entire point of this thread - which was optimism, was completely buried under a hail abuse predicated by thin skinned sensitivities. 

 

"We will do this today" You missed that bit - the entire rationale of the thread.

 

Didn't see much of that anywhere else on the other threads. Look what Sherwood has accomplished since Lambert was ousted. I wanted Nigel to go...instead he has proved me wrong in turning around a much worst situation than the Villa. Both have motivated teams which were capable of far more.

 

My point was that there are far inferior sides that City (and Villa) which remain above us. In both cases this can be attributed to poor management. Sherwood has been a revelation. BUT...

 

So has Nigel Pearson.

Oh for ****s sake grow up. Why the confrontation? Quite the contrary - I'm saying that had Nige had managed to his potential an the potential of the team as he is doing now we wouldn't be in this situation - so actually that's a vindication.

 

I'm acknowledging the positive changes in his management. It's nothing to do with humble pie. I like NP, but I despise the toxic way that he's managed for the majority of this season. And I'm not afraid to concede when I am wrong.

 

This forum is replete with criticisms of players and formations that Pearson has doggedly adhered to ... crystalise that in a thread and dare to venture/make the suggestion that perhaps...just perhaps we would have accomplished more had this not been the case, and had he managed with the positive guile and decisive flair that he is now - and prepare to be shot down in flames.
