Grewks Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 Can somebody explain to me how the thai's actually justified the sacking of NP with the title of this thread? Now i'm no ' Billionaire Businessman', but can somebody explain to me the business logic for firing the guy responsible for generating the largest amount of income our club has ever seen? The Thai's have no doubt supported our club financially as well as any of the owners in our history and of course at face value that would appear to be a positive, however when looking closer that isn't necessarily the case. In the Sven era, the throwing around of cash to many represented 'ambition' and a desire to be in the top flight, whereas in reality it was merely a case of the owners lacking any kind of knowledge as to what is required at the level of championship football (as seen by the appointment of sven in the first place). Of course the major problem this pre-season caused by the lack of footballing knowledge from the owners, is the sacking of NP, and the lack of an immediate replacement. The more worrying aspect for myself however, is that we are continuing to operate in the transfer market without a new manager....WHERE ON EARTH IS THE LOGIC FOR THIS? Whether you agree with any of the above or not is irrelevant really. What the majority of us can indeed agree on is that we did not want NP to be sacked. The Supporters are the customers of LCFC....We quite frankly don't give a stuff about our clubs reputation in thailand. If you are worried about how the actions within our club may affect the KING POWER brand, disassociate the club from the brand. Nigel Pearson, a man i was proud to say was the spearhead of our club. He had the balls to speak his mind, the ability to transform the sterotypical lightweight foreigner into a grafter for the team and last but not least the trait of continous improvement. He was the long-term fix for this club. He was going to be our Fergie/Wenger. From top to bottom he and his staff had restructured our club and once again made us proud to support our team....long before the ladyboys arrived. The actions of his son (not that he did much after watching the video mind) may have embarassed your thai cultural beliefs, but it is nothing compared to what the fans feel now as we are linked with a manager from the third flight from American soccer.
EnglishOxide Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 The only thing I can answer about the transfer part of your post is that more and more clubs are buying players and telling the manager to make do with them. The problem is that sometimes the manager doesn't like them, and straight away that knocks millions of pounds off their value. The rest of your post I totally agree. This whole past 8/9 days has been utterly bonkers and has done more damage to our club than any of Pearson's incidents last season. There is something proper strange going on. The LMA hasn't even made a statement regarding Pearson's dismissal have they? Not a single comment/tweet from the players (or their wives!) makes me think the Thais have told everyone 'say anything, and you are next'. It stinks. The whole blackout under Pearson's regime was justified to keep team matters and transfers on the down low. But at the minute its a total pisstake and is disrespectful towards the 30,000 City fans who have been going to games over the years. We don't give a monkeys about the popularity in Thailand or the USA. We are fundamentally interested in our football team winning matches and at the minute that looks completely in jeopardy. Despite all this, and the emergence of Preki, I can't get rid of this nagging feeling that Nige will be back in the job, but the damage will have already been done. Something strange is going on.
Guest MattP Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 There is no serious argument anymore that can be put up this decision had anything to do with the 'interests of the club'- when knew it really as soon as it happened but it was dubious at best when we were looking at Hiddink and fantasising about Klopp, what it looks like when we are looking at Bob Bradley or Neil Lennon well. It's laughable. The argument about anyone being good at decisions in football because they were 'billionaire businessmen' surely died with Vincent Tan and Tony Fernandes, being rich as anything from a previous project doesn't mean you know anything about this game really. It never has and never will. This decision appears to be either to do with promoting the King Power brand, saving 'face' in Thailand or at worst pure jealously. We'll get what we deserve from this, football clubs have never succeeded from sacking good managers and they never will, usually the people who run the club only need to be told once though, that's a concern. The money is a big issue now, these guys have had free advertising worth well over 100million, they now have nearly 200millon worth of PL TV money, thanks to Nigel I bet they are now looking at a tidy profit even after the profligacy they sanctioned under Sven. The way some of our supporters have now decided to try and defend any decision these people make on the basis of the fact they own the club is bizarre, I grew up in the 80's when owners were accountable to fans, we seem to have gone full circle now, almost on the fear that thay might "pull the plug" so we have to bow down. It's the attitude of the unthinking. It's going to take more than a shit bottle of Carlsberg and a Bacon Sandwich to pull this one around.
Jordan Posted 9 July 2015 Posted 9 July 2015 It doesn't matter how well Nigel Pearson did; if you piss off and/or insult your bosses (especially if you do so multiple times), your bosses will fire you. That's how life is, and there's more to life (and to running a football club) than football and balance sheets. There's as good--and probably better--of a chance that Nigel Pearson ****ed up a good thing than the owners having an epiphany to sack Nigel because an apparition told them Guus Hiddink and/or Preki will lead the club to glory and riches. I am not happy about anything that's gone on over the past week and a half. I'm worried how the rest of preseason is going to go, let alone the actual season. I think no matter what we do, we're likely taking at least a step back. I am a Nigel Pearson fan. However, if Nigel was a **** about the sex tape scandal, or if he were being a blockhead about his son, or if he just generally acted like a **** towards his bosses without a good reason, then perhaps it is in the best interest of both parties that Leicester City Football Club and Nigel Pearson ended their working relationship.

FFS The guy has been fired, nobody outside of those in the know at the club + family/close friends would know why. Whilst I understand this Pearson love-in I actually opened this thread naively expecting to read NEWS. I have got rid and official warned until final several people and not wanted to, actually hurts, some Dicks and others that are still mates today. Whilst we don't know you also have to consider that the Srivaddhanaprabha's didn't want to get rid of their manager but were left by his actions with no alternative. The entire backroom staff have stuck about, this may be for contractual reasons and they are on great deals or/and they think Pearson was out of order?
