I'm afraid I haven't got time to build you a web site but I would recommend learning and having a go yourself, a few hints though:

1 - keep it easy on the eye by not using too striking colours, or contrasting colours

2 - do not use flashy animations, scrolling text things like that unless its absolutely necessary

3 - design your site using percentages for width rather than actual pixel size so that it fills any screen resolution, if you find this too difficult go for 800 x 600 as very few people use any less than this now

4 - do not cram your content, leave plenty of space to make it easier to read but not too much

5 - be sure that navigation is easy and simple by making it obvious how to get to any particular area of the site

Hope these tips are ok design wise, any questions regarding specific problems coding, feel free to PM me.

Sheff.

have you considered PHP nuke ?, its automatic set up and you can download themes for it and customise it to your tastes. Its easy to update and manage as well, comes with a forum and lots of other blocks you can add on.

If you click the foxesworld link in my signiture you will see an example of phpnuke in action.

cheers! how do i nuke my site! i have a tripod accont if that helps? what host did you use?

You need to find a free host that allows php nuke, preferably for installing ease something else called cpanel9 or fantastico, now there is a fantastic forum that can help you with all this:-

Freewebspace.net

register here and browse the forums to find a host that accepts the above, there are quite a few that do, sign up with the host, install the nuke via c/panel 3 click install, create your superuser account (just like registering on a forum) and thats it viola main bit of the building blocks done, all you got to do is decide on content.

I built my own website for my business, it does cost me a bit a year though and only have room for one published site or id have a go for you Bedders. might as well plug it whilst im here :D

Not bad Katassi, however i may have a bit of software you may find very useful for building a shop easily and add products in seconds....

take a look at this site.... shopfactory

now i have the full developer version of this (579 quid!) but if you pm me i can explain some more...

Im finding it all complicated! i just wanna be able to put the content in! all this installin stuff is not good as it aint my pc.

no mate, dont worry, nothing at all is installed on your pc, the phpnuke is installed on your host, in other words your webspace, the cpanel9 will already be installed on your webspace by the host, nothing to put on or affect your own pc :)

K so what am i doin on freewebspace.net

i found this but all this lingo confuses me! http://forums.clubhostcity.com/portal.php

all i see is the word FREE! :D but it says summat about know hotmail or yahoo accounts but they are the only accounts i have

try a different one mate, for the free hosting on that one you need a domain (ie your own www.whatever.co.uk) the rest of the hosting is ok for what you need, you are on the right track!

You could go for a free template and learn a little HTML to edit it enough to make it suit your purposes?

Then plug in the graphics you got done for your site...
